'Happy Dissonance' - New Original Music - Playing w/ Some Drums

on this idea I'd shared previously. I knew I didn't want a straight forward beat, or at least, not entirely. The kicks and snare here are simple and pretty 'normal', though I added a tom roll, which I then pitched around strangely, which made for a pretty cool effect. I then added an 1/8th pattern that was all triangles and little woodblock hits. I put a heavy Portal effect on it, and recorded the audio of that in Track 12. I then quantized everything to 1/16th notes, and used the transient preserve to chop it up into 1/16th note segments, which gives us the sort of liquidy percussive sounds you can hear in the background. It's a bit too quiet, but I think with some compression and volume/maybe distortion, this will sound really cool. There probably needs to be another layer of drums of some kind, to come in halfway through so things build up, but I'm not sure what yet. I'll mess around tonight and see where things go.
