Grapthar's Daily Hive Music Feature: Tim Kasher - 'Runts'
Tim Kasher - Runts
Tim Kasher is an artist I've loved
for a long time, since first discovering his band Cursive in high school. Cursive were big amongst my friends, as a big part of the emo/post-hardcore scene, though they had a much more interesting, experimental edge than a lot of other groups in that world. Kasher's songwriting abilities were also much more honed and impressive, and he often utilized other instruments (cellos/strings, horns) which gave Cursive a really out-there sound. Cursive has released 9 albums, with the most recent in 2019, though Kasher has also released 5 solo albums under his own name, and worked with lots of other artist, including Connor Oberst on Bright Eyes albums, Rilo Kiley, Planes Mistaken for Stars and more. Today's song is from one of his solo albums, No Resolution, released in 2017. This is a great example of his instrumentation and arrangement skills, as the song uses all sorts of stuff outside of guitar, bass and drums. Also, it's just a solid, catchy pop tune; the whole album is sort of in this same vibe/tone, and definitely worth checking out.
