The Rolling Stones - Mother's Little Helper

I've been listening to these guys

all day today, and figured this was the only obvious choice for today's post. I grew up on both The Beatles and The Beach Boys, but outside of their most well known singles, The Rolling Stones were a band I had mostly missed. Fortunately, when I got into my 20's, I corrected that mistake and discovered that they definitely deserved their place right next to those other two aforementioned bands. The more I got into their discography, the more I loved them, and have been on a bit of a kick lately, revisiting a lot of their mid/late '60s stuff specifically. Their 1966 album Aftermath was one I knew of because of the classic song 'Paint It Black', but at some point I learned that the UK release had a different track listing, and instead of starting with (or featuring at all) 'Paint It Black', it begins with this track. While 'Paint It Black' is great, this song is definitely higher up my list personally. It's content, discussing prescription drug abuse amongst mother's in the '60s, was definitely a lot darker and more intense than their previous stuff, and was a really interesting statement about the hypocrisy of previous generations and their condemnation of youth drug use.
