Grapthar's Daily Hive Music Feature: The Fall - 'Shoulder Pads #1'

The Fall - Shoulder Pads #1
I found The Fall through a friend

who used her Facebook page entirely to share post-punk, punk, goth and new-wave/synth-pop bands everyday, as well as a short biography. She happened to share their cover of The Kinks 'Victoria', and I love the original, so I checked out the band, and have been a fan ever since. Around that same time, I had started branching out from punk and hardcore into post-punk and post-hardcore (though those two genres came at different times), as I wanted more experimentation, and realized that all the punk bands and musicians I liked also wanted that at the time, and went their own directions, creating all sorts of interesting and new bands and sounds. The Fall has a pretty varied discography; they have that stark, dark sort of early post-punk stuff, but also poppier ideas, some weird, noisey stuff and everything between. Today's song is from their 1986 album Bend Sinister, and has always been a favorite of mine. It's essentially just a catchy little rock tune, but with a really cool little synth line (I think it's a synth anyway), which gives it just enough weirdness, hehe.
