Grapthar's Daily Hive Music Feature: The Clash - 'Bankrobber'
The Clash - Bankrobber
The Clash are a band who I had always
known of, as tons of other bands I loved would cite them as an influence, and of course they're just a generally famous band, but for a long time I never really sat down to appreciate their music. Fortunately, at some point I decided to rectify that and discovered I loved the band. However, I found that their later stuff, where they were really bending genres and experimenting in studio, was what became my favorite, and not the earlier punk stuff which is what I initially would have expected. That early stuff is great too, but I was really blown away by the level of weird experimentation they were playing with at the time. In addition to their albums, they had a number of singles and unreleased tunes that came out on various compilations over the years, one of which is this tune. It originally was a 1980 single, though many fans like myself found it either through their 1993 Black Market Clash compilation or the later Hits Back compilation. It's a super catchy, reggae influenced tune, but there are some awesome synth parts happening that I LOVE and find myself constantly humming after every listen.
