Talking Heads - Love → Building on Fire

I feel like I resort to a Talking Heads

song here every few weeks, but it's probably unavoidable as I go on binges of their music pretty often, hehe. As I've mentioned previously, my first introduction to the band was in 7th or 8th grade; I had a music class in which our teacher assigned bands to the students, and everyone would share a report in front of the class and play one song from the group. My classmate shared Talking Heads and their classic tune 'Psycho Killer', and I was hooked. Later that year, for Christmas, my mom got me their Once in a Lifetime CD box set which exposed to me a wide array of their sounds and styles across their discography. Talking Heads were formed in 1975 in New York City by David Byrne, Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz. They would bring in Jerry Harrison shortly thereafter and round out the 4-piece line-up. From the earliest days of the band, they had a unique, quirky sound that stood apart from the other bands in the NYC scene at the time; as they grew and their sound evolved, they would continue pushing boundaries and trying new things, and influencing countless other artists down the line. Today's song is the band's first single, read as 'Love Goes To Building on Fire'. Strangely, the group chose to not include it on their debut album which came out later the same year (1977), though it did appear on later reissues of that album.
