Grapthar's Daily Hive Music Feature: Ramones - 'Baby I Love You'
Ramones - Baby I Love You
I had recently shared a Ramones
tune, and I have continued delving into their later material, basically everything post their first 3 albums, and finding myself discovering really cool stuff throughout. Like many people, for a long time I had assumed Ramones tunes mostly sounded alike, as their first 3 albums are a lot of the 3-chord, driving punk stuff (which is awesome, no doubt). However, as they progressed they began to experiment and push their music into new places, still sometimes utilizing their classic, well tested punk sound, but also trying all sorts of other stuff. My friend told me I had to check out their 1980 album End of the Century a while back for that exact reason, and I've been hooked ever since. They definitely embraced a lot of pop styles here, particularly '50s and early '60s influences which I think are very visible on this track, harkening back to Ricky Nelson and the like. I definitely recommend the album as a whole, as its well worth the experience.
