Grapthar's Daily Hive Music Feature: Past Lives - 'Paralyzer'
Past Lives - Paralyzer
When I was in high school
one of my absolute favorite bands was The Blood Brothers, one of the most wild, experimental, strange and awesome hardcore bands ever, and a group that I still think deserves much more attention and respect for their completely unique sound, and how many other bands and artists they inspired despite never being a particularly big band. Each member has had all sorts of sort projects during the band's life, and have all been in tons of other bands over the years since their break-up, one of which is Past Lives. Jordan Blilie, Mark Gajadhar, and Morgan Henderson all come from The Blood Brothers consistent five-piece line-up, though 4th member Devin Welch was actually a guitarist in the band years earlier, though he was long gone for most of their albums. I really like the sound of this band, as they can utilize the super intense, screamy stuff the Blood Brothers are known for, but also embrace more of a simple, groovy thing, which is what this song definitely shows. Also, Blilie provides more of a melodic singing style; in the previous band (and other projects) he did sing but at least in The Blood Brothers, their vocal melodies were purposefully out of tune, or strange, to add to the whole vibe.
