Grapthar's Daily Hive Music Feature: Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - 'Breathless'
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Breathless
Although I had loads of friends
who were big Nick Cave fans over the years, and I would always read rave reviews about him and his various projects, it wasn't until much later that I really got into his music. I am glad that I did, as his discography is massive and I continue exploring it, with tons of stuff to still discover. The Bad Seeds are Cave's backing band from 1983 ownard, after the break-up of his first band, the legendary Birthday Party. The Bad Seeds have been releasing music ever since, now with 18 full length albums and various EPs and singles in their discography. Their 2004 double album Abattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus is widely acclaimed, though it was one I only really discovered after really getting into the band. While it has some of their darker, gothic themes, it also has songs like this which are significantly "happier" at least in timbre and sound. I definitely recommend this double album if you're unware of Cave's music, or just a casual fan, as both halves are super solid.
