a group that I got instantly hooked on 13 or so years ago, remaining a fan ever since. Mogwai are a post-rock band from Glasgow, Scotland; they were formed in 1995, and have released 10 full length albums since, as well as various EPs, singles, along with their work soundtracking films, TV shows, documentaries, etc. The band is currently a 4-piece, and has only had 2 former members, though they have also invited guest musicians on various instruments for recording and live-shows. My first intro to the band was the album that today's song comes from, 2011's Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will. It's one of my favorites from the band, though it's quite a bit different than a lot of their more post-rock, super heavily ambient kind of stuff. It has a lot of pop elements, more laid-back songwriting generally, and is always a great kick of nostalgia whenever I listen to it, taking me back to that time period.
