Grapthar's Daily Hive Music Feature: J Mascis + The Fog - 'Ammaring'

got into in the last couple of years, despite how legendary Dinosaur Jr. is, and how many friends I have who love that group and his music and style. Fortunately, I rectified that and have since become a huge fan of that group, and only recently discovered he had solo material. The group created to back this material he called The Fog. While he recorded all the material on the 2000 album More Light, to promote it he had drummer George Barz (of Dinosaur Jr.) and legendary bassist Mike Watt (Minutemen, fIREHOSE, and countless other bands/rcordings) join him on multiple tours, including an international leg through Japan and Australia. He would record one other album under the Fog moniker, but in 2003, his home studio burned down, and two years later Dinosaur Jr. reunited. But, we are left with two really solid albums that are sort of in the Dino Jr. vein, with Mascis' signature sound and songwriting, but a bit lighter.
