Descendents - Clean Sheets

Descendents are for me, and many others,

one of the greats in the pantheon of punk rock, and have remained a fixture in my musical tastes since I first discovered them in high school. Their sound inspired a whole generation of later bands who would help bring it into the mainstream; though the Descendents themselves never achieved that sort of success, they have maintained a pretty massive following worldwide. The band was first formed in 1977 in Manhattan Beach, CA by Bill Stevenson, Frank Navetta, and Tony Lombardo, who recruited Milo Aukerman shortly afterwards. However, in the mid '80s, the line-up shifted, with Aukerman and Stevenson remaining, and being joined by Stephen Egerton and Karl Alvarez. That line-up has been together since 1986, through various break-ups and reincarnations. The band's last album before their first break-up was 1987's All, which was the first album to feature Alvarez and Egerton, and is where today's song comes from. They brought a bunch different, more technical sound the band, and the album features some really wild, prog. influenced ideas infused into their catchy punk sound. This song is the poppiest, most straight-forward on the album, and is a personal favorite, however, the album as a whole is well worth checking out as it really sounds unlike anything else.
