Chilliwack - My Girl (Gone, Gone, Gone)

There's an old SNL skit from the early '80s

The band on stage (Image Source)
where, on late-night TV, there is a 'pre-teen telethon' happening, hosted by an awkward girl who announces a band of what are supposed to be 3 equally awkward young boys. They cover this song, and it's a bit silly, not laugh out loud, but the chord progression in the tune caught my ear, so I went to check out the original. The band Chilliwack is, of course, who wrote it, though they're a group I had NEVER heard of before this. Apparently, they had some big hit songs, and it seems they're more known in an historical context in Canada, but I'd never once run into them over the years. Back to this song, it was released on their 1981 album Wanna Be A Star. The beginning of the tune (and subsequent verses) have a dancey vibe, moving back and forth between Amaj and Fmaj, which is a cool borrowed chord move. The following verse portion is A, D, G and E, repeating, which is much more of a rock and roll vibe, before what I think is Emin, D, Dmin, and back to A, again more use of interesting borrowed chords. I may be wrong about the specific chords there, but that gets you the general sound, which I really like overall.
