Grapthar's Daily Hive Music Feature: Cave In - 'Stained Silver'
Cave In - Stained Silver
Cave In is a super interesting band,
and one I first discovered a LONG time ago, probably exactly two decades now, maybe give or take a year. Their earliest material was very much in the sort of spastic, extreme hardcore of the time, amongst other bands like Botch, but over time they began to incorporate more typical rock and pop structures, though never abandoning an original sound of their own. As the band grew and evolved, they would release some albums that are widely considered classics of the genre, one of which was 2003's Antenna, which is where this song comes from. You can immediately tell that it isn't anything like their early stuff, with singing, melodies, pop structures, etc., but it's heavy, and uses some interesting sounds and riffs to make it stand apart from the typical rock of the time.
