Aphex Twin - Cirklon1

Aphex Twin is probably my most

shared artist on this blog, as any day where I don't have a specific artist or band to chose, I tend to resort to Aphex tunes, haha. I've been a fan for such a long time, with these songs and albums helping to influence my entire taste in music and my discovery of electronic music in general. Aphex Twin is, of course, the stage moniker of legendary musician, DJ and producer Richard D. James, though he also has released music under the name Caustic Window and AFX, as well as a few others over the years. James is known as a pioneer of 'IDM' (intelligent dance music), which was electronic music specifically designed for listening instead of use in dance clubs, though James and other artists in the same vein never used that label on themselves. However, it has become a more ubiquitous term in the years since, denoting electronic music that is influenced by club/dance music, but strives to be more 'artistic' and genre-bending, pushing the boundaries of what is possible with electronics. Today's song is from the 2016 Cheetah EP, which I believe was the most recent Aphex Twin release. I really love this song, though there are other versions/remixes that are really cool too. This tune has always stood out to me though, as it has some really awesome timbres and sounds used; the drum groove is also more straight-forward for a lot of the song, though it does get a bit weird and spastic at some points in typical Aphex style.
