for a 'Numero Group', which turned out to be a record label that reissues all sorts of music, but with a specific focus on artists and bands that often had been lost to time, or underground groups who had a large impact in their local area but never were really known in the wider music world. They have Spotify playlists filled with awesome stuff, and they sell all of these releases on vinyl. In the case of today's artist, Andre Gibson and his group the Universal Togetherness Band, apparently Gibson had a lot of unfinished and unreleased material, so working with this label allowed him and any surviving members with writing credits to actually begin to earn money for their tunes, which is a really cool thing all around. Gibson and the other members were from Chicago, and were a part of a huge, vibrant music scene, and the group blended all sorts of genres, often jamming in studio to create jazz, fusion, funk, rock and R&B in various flavors. This tune is from the Apart: Demos, encompassing recordings from 1980 to 1984. I definitely recommend reading the full bio and story of the band here, it's just way too much information for one article, but its super interesting.
