MY MOVIE REVIEW: THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST (2004)
I have watched a whole lot of movies. Some stayed with me and some didn't stayed with me due to personal reasons. But trust me, there are some movies I can not easily forget due to the impact they have created in my own life. There was a movie I watch around decades ago which still stays with me and which is The Passion of Christ. I know it is a popular movie that virtually everyone of us must have watched.
The movie actually stand out because it reflect the spiritual journey that shows where I am going and to be thankful of life and not be broken instead. For me, I didn't see this particular movie I am about to share with you as just the regular bible movie, it is actually raw and it is emotional. I have been hearing about how Jesus was crucified but watching this movie actually opened my eyes to see the need why I should value the death of Jesus most especially as a Christian.
If there is actually something I saw when watching the movie, it is the fact that the pain was real. The pain that Jesus experienced on the way to the cross was actually real and most of the times we play down on the pain because we are just reading about it. But me watching the movie right from the point Jesus was arrested from that garden of Gethsemane to the cross, trust me my heart was heavy when watching.
I was looking at the scene of the movie most especially the scene when he was beaten, the scene was really so brutal and so intense that I need to hide the emotions. It was actually something else for me to hold. I even find myself crying in some of the scene when watching the movie take for example during the scene when he was nailed to the cross. I was actually watching how nail was entering his hands. Trust me, Jesus really went through a whole lot for us. It was a plain reality I was seeing about life that really wounded me.
As a Nigerian that I grew up to be, we have been exposed to us praying, fasting and even going to church most of the time. But if there is something passion for Christ taught me when I was watching the movie was the fact that Christianity is not really about religion, it is about sacrifice and relationships with God. I was seeing Jesus and how he really suffer just for him to carry my sins.
The actor of the movie, I mean the person that acted Jesus was Jim Caviezel. For me, he didn't just act, he actually became Jesus in that movie because he brought in that emotional strong connection inside and which really changes a whole lot of things. The camera also did a very great job most especially in the aspect of camera angle and the clarity.
For me, the movie is not just an ordinary movie, though it might be entertaining as all movies are, but beyond that, it actually passes across a strong message to show that we should hold onto the faith we believe in. This is a movie I will recommend to every believer to actually watch because it is definitely going to change a whole lot of things that you might have wrongly believe about the death of Jesus. Not only that, it will also help to strengthen your faith in God.
Rating: 8/10
I will definitely give the passion for Christ movie 9/10 because everything was just complete starting from the beginning to the end.
