MY MOVIE REVIEW: THE KARATE KID (2010)
There are movies that really made my childhood memories that I have not easily forgotten and one of the movie is what I want to write a movie review on it today. The karate kid was a movie that I really watch many years ago and trust me, it still have a whole lot of lessons that the movie thought me. For me, I didn't only see the movie as just entertaining but I saw it inspiring and which can help young people like me to quickly notice any struggles and overcome them most especially identity struggles.
The movie center around a very young boy who acted as Jaden Smith in the movie. He was around 11-12 years old. One of the major struggle that Jaden faced in the movie was bully by fellow local kids who seems to be more skilled in king fu much more than him. He was facing identity struggles. This was the center role of the movie actually.
Then Jaden met Mr Han who is called Jackie Chan. Mr Han is actually an experience skilled kung fu expert and which he started to teach him a whole lot of things. Mr Han started to teach Jaden Smith about king fu and not only that but necessary things about life. He was teaching him about patience, discipline and that is what I love the most. He didn't only teach Jaden Kung Fu skills for fighting but all other necessary attributes to create balance in life.
When I was actually watching the movie, there were a whole lot of lessons I picked from it which I want to talk about. The first is the fact that everyone can adapt to situations no matter what and the unfamiliar environments. The second lesson I was able to pick from the movie strongly is the aspect of Mentorship.
In fact, I will say mentorship is what I was able to pick strongly in this movie that still touch me until now. The fact that Mr Han was able to pick Jaden and train him up and make him to be so skillful in the king Fu and Jaden became so good in the skill. In fact, I will not have believe that it might have been possible. This makes me to remember the power of Mentorship.
And truth be told, a whole lot of youths are actually suffering from mentorship. They don't have the right mentor in their life and this is affecting them greatly. The movie also taught me about discipline and hard work. If there is something I was able to hold on to when watching the movie, it is the fact that there is no shortcuts in life. Jaden needed to subject himself to constant training, discipline and hardwork to learn the kung fu.
When it comes to the performance of actors in the movie, trust me, they really did a great job in it. Jaden Smith brings that energy and determination in that movie. Mr Han also played it's role perfectly well as a mentor not only in the kung fu skills but also in the aspect of teaching the young kid about attributes of life. The cinematography of the movie was also touch notch. In fact, something that I really admire so much in that movie is the visuals of china.
The movie is loaded with so much life lessons even beyond what I have make mention of above. The fact that we should all learn to stand up for ourselves and defend ourselves but just with wisdom. The fact that we should always see pain, failure, loss and growth as a means of learning or life lessons. For me, the movie is beyond just a film that gives this entertaining vibe, it also helps to offer life lessons that I can't easily forget.
Rating: 8/10
I will definitely give the karate kid movie 9/10 because everything was just complete starting from the beginning to the end.
