I think the British Beatles are the greatest 1960s group!
This is because they recreated American black pop songs into European pop songs.

To some extent, but they were very original as well! They are widely regarded as the most influential rock band of all times, or one of them, alongside Pink Floyd for example. All the best!
P.S.: I forgot to mention The Doors as well in the description!
