Clean Fridge and Transcription - February 7, 2025 @goldenoakfarm
If he’s not too busy napping, when I pull the shades up, he comes over to check out what’s new.
It’s the small geranium that flowering now.
I had my post done, birds fed, and the kitchen nearly done when my helper friend arrived at 8AM. The job of the day was cleaning the fridge inside and out.
That meant pulling it out, just a job in its self due to the threshold that lands right in front of the wheels. But before we did that we emptied the fridge out to make it easier to move. There was a lot of stuff I discarded: old bread, bananas for zucchini bread, and old food. Most went to the compost. But some that didn’t fit into the keto diet were still good and my helper friend took that home.
We filled up all the big coolers from here at the house, and 1 small one. Once we’d gotten the fridge pulled out, I went behind and cleaned the cabinet walls and scrubbed the floor. Some of the linoleum had pulled up, so I screwed it down so it won’t get torn by the wheels going in and out.
Then we started on the inside. We took out all the shelves and my helper friend washed those while I cleaned the inside of the fridge and freezer. Then we neatly put everything back in place. It looks so nice and orderly and shiny!
We didn’t quite finish it. I still have the magnets, etc for the outside to wash, and we forgot to wash the outside of the bottom door. I was too tired to tackle it and my helper friend had errands to run. So I’ll do it on Saturday.
Ever since I stopped the Christmas music, I’ve been trying to keep the old Winamp going with my various old playlists. First it was what I called “Easy Listening” and my helper calls elevator music.
But on Friday I changed it over to classical music. So far I am doing ok with music that’s not Christmas. In the past I liked it, but found it exhausting, except Christmas music. Another lovely Lyme symptom…
After lunch, I got started on transcribing my barely legible notes from the gardens into the proper notes sheets. I got through the “A-B” section by 2PM and was too tired to start “C-D”.
So I sat down and watched more Call the Midwife, making it through the end of season 12. I think I still have season 13 left.
When my brother got home Friday night, the moon was shining brightly and he noticed the shadows from the old MacIntosh tree. So he got his phone out and he captured these cool pictures with it.
This one was particularly arresting, with the Y of the trunk framing the clouds overhead. This is all from moonlight! My brother isn’t sure exactly how he got these, as a feature he’d not seen before adjusted the scene and then took the photo. Pretty cool!
On Saturday, I finish in the kitchen, and then sit down for more transcription. I’m hoping to make it to the section with M… If not, I’m sure if there’s no more Call the Midwife, I can find another set to binge on, maybe Downton Abbey, or 800 Words. We have a sunny day to start but another snowstorm comes in during the night.
Cleaning the fridge and stove is always a big project, but so satisfying. Those photos of the shadows would have been a good entry for the #shadowhunters contest.
Your cat seem like a very sensitive one
Also, I like how you take care of the home every now and then. It’s a good practice
Larry is so friendly and homely. The geranium is flowering so nicely I must say.
The moon light was very strong. Your brother could make some really nice photos.
The cleaning work is progressing nicely. I have yet to clean my fridge! I will have to clean a bookshelf tomorrow so that I could stack some old books in it.
Time is running faster than last year. I have more tasks left unfinished!
Hope the weather would get warmer soon.
