Three Tune Tuesday - Amazing First Take
Hey there, music lovers! This my 2nd attempt for Three Tune Tuesday by @ablaze. As per required, I will try to find 3 tracks that deserve your attention.
Today I’m going to pick from The First Take – a YouTube channel that makes musicians step up, grab a mic, and deliver perfection in just one take. No redos, no second chances. It’s like watching a high-wire act without a safety net, and I love it.
So, let’s get into three songs that absolutely nailed it!
1. "Daddy Daddy Do" by Masayuki Suzuki feat. Airi Suzuki
First up, we have “Daddy Daddy Do,” a banger brought to you by the one and only Masayuki Suzuki, alongside Airi Suzuki (no relation, just a cool coincidence). Masayuki, with his signature sunglasses and suave style, is known as the “King of Love Songs” in Japan, and this track shows why he earned that title.
“Daddy Daddy Do” comes from the anime Kaguya-sama: Love Is War, and it's every bit as charming as the show itself. Masayuki’s deep, smooth voice paired with Airi’s bright and cheerful vocals makes for a combo that’s hard to resist. In The First Take, they hit every note perfectly, making us feel like you’re in a jazz lounge with the coolest people in town. The playful back-and-forth between their voices is the musical equivalent of a flirtatious conversation.
2. "Gurenge" by LiSA
Next, we have “Gurenge” by LiSA, the rock queen of anime theme songs. This one is the opening theme for the smash-hit anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, and it’s a straight-up adrenaline rush. LiSA’s got this voice that just hits, a blend of power and emotion that makes me feel like I could take on the world.
Funny enough, Demon Slayer characters use breathing techniques as their power system, and LiSA does just that in her performance. Her control over her breathing is amazing – like she's ready to unleash some serious demon-slaying moves right then and there.
In The First Take, LiSA doesn’t just sing the song – she lives it. We can see from her gestures, mimic and hear the intensity in her voice. It’s raw, passionate, and I don’t need to understand the language to know that this is an emotional and intense song. There’s something about the way she belts out those high notes that makes me believe in the power of music. I got the sense that she’s not just singing for the camera; she’s performing as if this one take is her last. At the end of her performance, she looked so relieved, and went back into kawaii mode. 😍
3. "We Are" by Hiroshi Kitadani
If you’ve ever watched One Piece, this song is like the anthem of your childhood. As a One Piece fan myself, this song is the original opening theme that kicked off Luffy and the gang’s endless adventures on the high seas, and it’s still a fan favorite to this day.
I’ve been waiting years for this song to make its way to The First Take. What a legend! Kitadani brings his A-game to this performance. His voice has that perfect blend of nostalgia and energy, I feel like a kid, ready to set sail on a new adventure. Even in a simple studio setting, Kitadani’s enthusiasm is infectious.
“We Are” is the perfect theme for One Piece– it’s about dreams, friendship, adventure. Chase those wild ambitions no matter what. Watching Kitadani perform it live with that unmistakable grin on his face, it's perfect.
What makes these performances on The First Take so special is the authenticity. These artists don’t need flashy pyrotechnics or auto-tune to shine. It’s just them, their voices, and the music. There’s something raw and real about that, a kind of magic that’s often lost in today’s heavily produced music scene.
Happy Three Tune Tuesday, and until next time, keep the music playing!
