Nice tunes! I love all the bands you picked today and you chose some good songs. OMD really has a bunch of great songs that were never mainstream, Tesla Girls, Locomotion, and so many more. The Cure are an awesome band too, Robert Smith is awesome. Hard to go wrong with Talk Talk too, that's why No Doubt covered that song!

Hey, never heard In the Dark by the Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, I liked that one. The Cure has always been one of my favorite bands, their last album was considered the best rock album of 2024. I made a playlist this year of 1980ās alternative music with Joy Division, The Pretenders and others. And this is the one I included from The Cure. Hope you like it.
I got some tunes for ya! One is even titled āEightiesā and can be the first track on ur playlist!
@thereadingman
Hereās three 1985 released gems for your 1980ās alternative playlist! I bet u know one or two but I went for the lesser known gems! Three of my favorite songs ever! Figured Iād pick a theme and went with 1985!
Killing Joke - Eighties
Dramarama - Anything Anything
Descendents - Good Good Things
Hey, you were right. The only one of these Iāve heard before is Killing Jokeās Eighties. I think I heard it first on a NatGeo show about the eighties. I loved Good Good Things by Descendents, I think Iāll use it for a new 1980s playlist.
Descendents are mostly fast punk songs, but this song and another called Sour Grapes have a halfway New Wave vibe mixed in. I thought youād like it š
Hereās that other song by them ā¬ļø
Sour Grapes
Hereās a couple more just in case you also like it even though itās less āNewWaveā
Clean Sheets (1987)
Cheer (1986)
coolidge (1987)
Hope (1982)
Bikeage (1982)
& hereās two songs from the band āALLā
Itās the guys from Descendents but with different singer. The singer went to become a scientist and got his masters degree (Not A Joke) but I think these went the direction of the sound you liked ā¬ļø
ALL - Just Perfect (1988)
ALL - Sheās My Ex (1989)
And last hereās ALL doing a great cover of Rebel Yell by Billy Idol!
I often think itās such a shame cause the guitarist , bass , drummer are the same guys. When they started ALL it was like starting over. If Milo the Descendents singer hadnāt left I bet theyād if been bigger with the way the sound went.
