🎸 9/17/25 - ALT2K Wednesday! Gene & Ashlee’s 2000’s Alternative Rock Tunes! DailyJams 🎸

On this Wednesday aka Alt2k Wednesday morning we each pick a DailyJam & BonusJam from a 2000’s alternative band & album 💿
We pick from the “Synthwave” scene from the 2000’s. Retro inspired vibes and an underground alt scene not many knew about. Made very popular in Europe & not far from me at time in NYC. Both artists I discovered from the 2011 movie Drive! Both our DailyJams were on the soundtrack and had heavy play during the film.

Ashlee picks the band/artist “College” starting with the song “Real Hero” for DailyJam from the 2008 release “Teenage Color” this tune was popularized years later in 2011 from being featured in the film Drive. For BonusJam it’s another song from same album the title track “Teenage Color”.

I (Gene) pick the song “Night Call” for DailyJam which also featured in the movie Drive, actually right in the opening credits! I remember walking out the movie theater in 2011 & buying the soundtrack on iTunes before I got to my car! It just had an eighties vibe & sound to point I assumed the music was decades old, only to discover a scene called #Synthwave that was new retro inspired music! For BonusJam it’s the song “ 2 Pacific Coast Highway” which appeared on the 2012 Kavinsky debut album “ Nightcall”. The DailyJam also was on this album but had obviously been released as a single the year prior when the film came out!

I do a much deeper dive and long form vlog on Tuesdays & Friday (ThreeTuneTuesday & NinetiesFriday). On Wednesday & Saturday we usually keep it more brief and just pick tunes to share for Alt2k Wednesday & Eighties Saturday! Enjoy!
