One of my biggest problems musically has always been confidence. it was so obvious that my voice would sound shaky. It was something that I was always a bit ashamed of talking about and most of the times I limited myself from hitting those notes I knew very well I could hit effortlessly because I was afraid to fail, at least fear was the way I like to tag it because I thought it sounded less embarrassing but the truth was, I lacked the confidence to take that risk.
A little secrete, I ones deleted an entire entry on one of the communities because someone made a comment about how he felt my voice lacked confidence. I was afraid to either choke or go off key but i guess that is all a part of getting better. sometimes you fail to learn how to win. But back then, I rather not try for the sake of my self-esteem.

one day, I decided to randomly post an entry on Afri-tunes community and I was listed as the top for that week and I did the same the next week and I still topped. That wasn’t even the best part, the best part was the wonderful comments they made me feel like could do more, and I could do better. The fact that they are people who love my voice when I didn’t think it was all that. This made me think what if I walked on it. Even more so, the thought of excellence made me feel so inspired to find the better version of myself musically. I went on and watch numerous entries and I realized, some of them didn’t even have one of the best vocals but they still gave it their all. That was how I learnt a great lesson that totally changed my confidence game for good.

Music was never about sounding your best but it’s about giving your best. An art of expression that even though you may not be the Beyoncé of your time, you should enjoy what you do and pour all your heart into it like taking a giant step into that note even though it may sound awful. This brought about my redefinition of music; Music is not just a combination of sound that is pleasant to the ear rather, it is a combination of sounds and feelings that is pleasant to your ear.
It’s an expression your feel. So now I don’t try to sound good but feel good and it all falls into place.
With all that is said, I think I should thank the community of afri-tune you all may not know, but the love in this community has been my biggest confident booster even so, thanks to Afri-tune and the hive block chain in general, I may not be at 100% but I’m better than I used to and also, a big thank you to the inleo initiative for allowing me share this story. I still remain your very enthusiastic writer @gemangel.

The best way of overcoming any or every challenge is identifying the problem and also accepting that it's the problem... Sometimes confidence make us withdraw and feel less of ourselves but am happy you overcame that low self-esteem, we are riding off for greater heights. Thanks for sharing this experience
