“Whitesnake” is the band's eponymous album, which features a new logo on its cover and was released on March 31, 1987 in the United Kingdom through EMI Records.
This album marks the first and only collaboration between vocalist David Coverdale and guitarist John Sykes, as well as being the last work with bassist Neil Murray. In Europe and Australia, the album was released under the title “1987”.
The album includes four standout singles: “Still of the Night”, “Here I Go Again '87”, “Give Me All Your Love” and “Is This Love”, the latter originally written by David and John for Tina Turner.
David Coverdale recalls, “After my mother passed away, I found some demo recordings in her house of songs that Richie Blackmore and I worked on. One of them was 'Still of the Night'. It's completely unrecognizable now, so Richie has nothing to worry about.... Neither do I!”.

In the U.S., the album was released a week earlier and, by February 1995, had already been certified platinum eight times.
To date, more than fifteen million copies have been sold worldwide, cementing “Whitesnake” as a milestone in rock history.
