‘Against the Wind’ is the eleventh album by legendary American rock singer Bob Seger, and marks his third collaboration with the Silver Bullet Band.
Released in February 1980 on Capitol Records, the album made an immediate impact by reaching the top of the Billboard 200 chart, unseating Pink Floyd's acclaimed ‘The Wall’.
Its success was remarkable, remaining at the top for six consecutive weeks, making it a benchmark of the era.
In recognition of its quality and popularity, the album received two Grammy Awards in 1981.

Among the most memorable songs were ‘Fire Lake’ and ‘Against the Wind’, which featured Glenn Frey, Don Henley and Timothy B. Schmit, members of the famous ‘The Wind’ band. Schmit, members of the celebrated Eagles, who contribute their distinctive voices on backing vocals, further enriching the production.
In 2020, Rolling Stone magazine singled out the album by listing it as one of the 75th best 80 albums of 1980, reaffirming its importance in rock history.
‘Against the Wind’ became Seger's only number one album on the Billboard 200 and was certified five times platinum in the United States.
