Time in sounds

The past cannot be cured.

- Elizabeth I -

I've had time on my hands lately; a situation that's changing soon, however I've had time to think about whatever I've wanted to past, present and future. I've had the time to spend doing things I really want to do and listening to more music is one of those things, and that means I've listened to a lot of music that might not generally be on my radar. I don't mean the tracks in this post, they're just ones I wanted to present, but I've discovered a lot of music in recent times that I've simply not uncovered before and I am really enjoying the process.

With this in mind I thought I'd do my post on music that has a time theme and that meant I also got to use the image above that I took a couple weeks ago and that I really like. A win-win situation I think.

This track by Van Halen called, Right Now, is a really great song with a cool message about making moments count, that time doesn't come back around, and the value of living life fully while we have the chance. It's about living in the moment and not being afraid of change.

Here's a change of pace, a track by Robbie Williams called, Eternity, which is about time of a different sort, you'll have to watch the video to see what I mean there. It's a really nice song, sung well in my opinion and the video is pretty cool too.

Changing pace once more brings us to this one from the Foo Fighters called, Times Like These, a song Dave Grohl wrote after the break up of the band and realising he missed it and the other members. As you'd expect, there's a lot of guitar and drums and Grohl's raw voice in this cool Foo Fighters song.

✳️ Here's a link to YouTube where you'll find all three in a single playlist.

As humans we're given life, however the span of it is indeterminate and it can be taken without warning no matter how hard we strive to keep it. Death is inevitable and between our lives springing into existence and ending is time. My thought on it is to make the most of that time, be the painter of my own masterpiece and to live my life as best I can...that means spending it in ways that provide enjoyment and happiness...like finding new music or listening to old favourites like those three above.

Design and create your ideal life, don't live it by default; tomorrow isn't promised so be humble and kind - galenkp

I love that photo, it is so cool. It looks very professional to my eyes.

The Robbie Williams song is new to me. It is a cool video. VanHalen and FooFighters are some awesome songs and I have listened to those several times myself.

Have a good day!

Thanks man, this is my favourite shot from that watches shoot I did a little while ago. I have a new photo post going up tomorrow...something you might be familiar with, or at least similar to it.

I'm not a massive Robbie Williams fan although he has a few great tracks that I like a lot. Yep, great video to it huh?

I'm always confused on whether to bask in admiration of that beautiful watch photo or plan ways to come steal it. Really cool stuff.

And the Robert William song (and video) is quite uhm... interesting. It made me smile I'll tell you that. And the Van Halen track has a cool vibe to it. Nice choices G.

If you can steal it, you can have it. I don't like your chances though. 😉

I'm glad you like the tracks, all three are pretty cool I think and yeah, cool video on the Robbie Williams track huh?

Those are some great song selections. I remember when that song by Van Halen came out. I think they used it in a crystal Pepsi commercial, it was pretty iconic. I got to see Sammy Hagar a couple of years ago. He still sounds great and he still covered many of the classic VH songs. You could spend months writing posts about the time theme I feel.

Thanks man, I like these too. I don't remember the Pepsi commercial but I'll look it up and see if I can find it. I likes Sammy Hagar up front of VH, many didn't though for some reason. He did a good job though and I'd have liked to see them perform. The 1984 album was the first I ever bought (still have it) when I was 14. I loved that band and rarely a week goes by without me playing a track.

I have 5150 and 1984 on vinyl. Easily in my top 10 favorites of all the records I own! I like Sammy too. I think people thought he was too pop. I don't know.

Yep, me too, both albums...but no turntable to play them on these days. I was actually thinking about getting a turntable and some speakers for old times sake, nothing too extravagant, but quality. There's something nice about the white noise and pops of vinyl. yeah, you're probably right with the Hagar comment, but he did a good job.

I totally agree with you on vinyl. I still have my old RCA turntable from when I worked at Radio Shack and about 200;/albums or so. You just can't beat the sound. There are some nice all in one units out now that work with Bluetooth speakers. I bought my niece one a year or so ago.

Now you've gone and done it...All in one with Bluetooth? I'm going to scout around (online) to investigate.

The weather.... one of my favourite themes, I think many people already know that.

Time is the most precious commodity, the one that has the most value.

As you rightly say, we have to make the most of this time on earth in the best possible way, because the last day of each one of us will undoubtedly come, the issue is how we live that time. Let it be of quality.

I must admit that of the 3 songs, I loved the second one. I watched the whole video, I wanted every detail and it really is very good, the lyrics and the meaning. I simply liked it a lot.

The first one is very good, I knew it, the third one is the first time I listen to it. In all the theme of the relentless passage of time and what is done in that time.

Thanks Galenkp.

It only moves in one direction and it making it count seems to be the right thing to do. Life can disappear in a heartbeat and it makes sense to me to use each one of those heartbeats to furnish oneself with the best life possible, whatever that looks like for the individual.

They say that nobody can bathe in the same river twice, that's because the water passes and is no longer the same, just like time. Enjoying every minute is very important.✨

The irony of saving your best photo from that shoot for the music community! hahaha
I have here some music that you need to discover for your inner Viking as well as for your workout companion of aggression!

This is the whole album... but i can say almost each song has it's moment of awesome breakdown. Not many enjoy this kind of music since the lyrics are difficult to discern. I can say.... once you get an ear for it, this music is unrivaled. If it's not the machine gun drums, or the shredding guitar, the brutality of the vocals and lyrics will get your inner Viking into beserker mode! I assure you. The lyrics make the vocals worth inspecting... j/s

I particularly recommend song 3, 4, and 7 from this album. Where silent gods stand guard and Versus the World are two of my all-time metal classics!

On a side note, if you haven't seen the music video for Right Now... the video is almost better than the actual Van Halen song!

Haha, yeah I have been planning to use that photo for this post for weeks, since I took it. Lol. I really like that photo.

I listened to that track, listening to it as I type this...I like it...As you say, the rawness of it. Beserker mode - There are some who may say this is my constant state of being...those who have not actually seen me go beerk. Lol. I'm only kidding here...Or am I? I'll be looking into more music from this group, thanks for the lead.

Oh, and yes I have seen that video of Right Now...A great video with some powerful images. Now, you'll have to excuse me, beserker mode must be deployed.

I found this little gem yesterday, I've been listening to it on repeat since. I guess I'll keep on listening till I start "hating" it, an old habit of mine. 😂

Also this one, another beautiful creation from our people back at Coke Studio Bangla. A mixture of different cultures and styles, but the same language, which is Bangla. This is fusion is done right.

Good tunes. Oh and yeah, the listen until you hate it thing is a legit issue. A good thing we can pick and choose though; I'm always dropping music out of my favourites playlist and it often comes back at some stage.

it often comes back at some stage.

That's the good thing about having options. And fortunately I don't limit myself with genres, languages or styles, as long as it's good music, I'm in.

Well, I've been trying to listen to more songs and the likes of Whitney Houston and so. I'm sure that the selections will be good and I will love them

That Foo Fighters one is so anthemic - I can imagine how much the crowd would sing along to that one at one of their gigs. I do regret never seeing them live.

They're a good band, one I didn't appreciate all that much for a little while but as I delved in a little, learned more about them and what they were all about I began to listen to them more. I never saw them live either, I'd go though.

Aren't they all? I bought someone two tickets to the stage production Marry Poppins last week, very little change out of $500.

I'll never know, I'm not going. But yeah, it's a lot and that wasn't even for the best seats. Dinner, coffee after and it makes for a very costly thing, but memories are made and that's what's important for the two going.

The staging tends always to be pretty good, innovative and all. Apparently the same can be said about Mary Poppins. I think the two people will enjoy it. Also, I wanted to see a show on the West End but never got around to fitting it in There'll be other opportunities.

1&3 are a couple I will take the time to listen to...

Speaking of time. I spent so much of it truckin' this week. I lost track of that time and it was Wednesday before I found that time again. My penalty 30 minutes in the "Box"!

I am calling a time out. And calling it a week in about 4 more hours of time!

Getting an early start to the weekend, I like it! Mine has started too, although it's only first thing Friday morning. Yay for the weekend!
