The girls

Girls are awesome, no doubt...yeah they can be crazy and a little frightening at times, but if us chaps do the right thing we're generally safe from their wrath, or so I have found it to be. There's a lot to like about women and I know a few who stand out and whom I value greatly. With that in mind, I thought I'd share three tracks from girls who I find very talented and songs that are quite moving. I know, you might not like all of them, or any at all, but that doesn't negate the fact they're great tracks in my opinion. So here goes.

I've got a crush on this girl - country artist, Faith Hill. There's nothing she's done musically that I've not liked including this sad but good track about life, loss and longing. It's a beautiful song, sung beautifully: My wild frontier

I've got a crush on this girl to - Christina Perri. Nah, just kidding...or am I? She has an amazing voice, sort of edgy and raw but beautiful at the same time and she puts it to great use in this track about empowerment and moving forward with confidence: Jar of hearts

Note, I have used the live version of this track, there is an official video also, you can find it here. It's very nice.

I've got a crush on this girl - Christina Aguilara. I know right? It's true though. I remember when she firat hit the scene and I like the way she's recreated herself over the years, changed as she's aged...and that voice cannot be denied. This is another powerful track about loss, this time of a father: Hurt

Here's a link to a YouTube playlist with all three (four) tracks contained in it: YouTube Playlist

I don't respect women any more than men, I respect everyone who deserves that respect and have earned it. That's just how I am. Having said that...well, I like women more than men. They're very complicated, no doubt, sometimes insufferable and downright scary, but they are special and a much required part of my life.

Sharing these tracks today made me think about how difficult it can be for women to make their way in the world, how many have been taken advantage of and how many have risen through adversity to achieve great things, just like the three above and millions of other everyday women. Maybe even you.

Is there a female artist you have a crush on? Is there one you'd like to share, a particular track by a legit female artist? Do you have any comments about the three tracks I've linked or anything in general...maybe about a woman who inspires you or if you're a woman, you may like to share an empowering story about yourself? The time is now...get it done below in the comments thread should you wish to. I'll respond.

A camouflage brassiere with pink lace? I am amused. Thanks for not modeling it yourself.

I like Uncle Earl, an all-female bluegrass and old-time band. One of the best acoustic acts out there. I'm not so much a fan of mainstream country & western. I also have the Dollyrots and the Halo Friendlies in my pop-punk rotation. And then there's Blackmore's Night.

I'm man and don't wear bras, although I have a chest rig holster system that might qualify; it's camo too.

I've heard of a couple of those artists you mention although can't say I've heard any (much) of their work. I'll be chasing it down though, thanks for the tips!

I can also add that two decades after their "unpatriotic" faux pas, I still think the Dixie Chicks deserved better.

Yep, I agree with the Dixie Chicks comment, but disagree with them having to (feeling the need to) change their name. I've seen them a few times in concert; amazing talent.

It's very funny to say this but I actually had a crush on Cardi B, I just love everything about her even her music

I'll have to look up Cardi B as I don't know who that is.

Drew me in with tits, although it was the shell missing the flesh.

I do like those three artists for sure! I think it’s great how Christina has redefined herself over the years, it makes for some interesting listening from the genie in a bottle style to what she’s changed into. Cool stuff!

Haha yeah, I thought that would happen. I have an image of the girl wearing the bra, but that's not suitable for the blockchain so just the apparel will have to suffice.

It's interesting, getting older like me, and having the perspective to look back on in respect of bands and artists, TV and movie actors and all...like a where are they now and what are they doing scenario. Many have fallen by the wayside, or off the rails like Brittny Spears and Miley Cyrus to name two, but some have had sustained success and I think it's that recreation of themselves and their work that has helped do that.

Yeah one of them that I’ve really admired because she remains a beautiful woman as she’s gotten older and not fallen victim to the insanity of leftist psychosis is Hillary Duff.

She’s also got some music, although her recent ones were Christmas related songs but I know she did a lot of acting but as well did a musical career and was actually pretty good. Her recent Christmas tracks were nice, she’s got a great voice and I think she may have written her own songs but I’m not 100% on that. Anyway, she’s another one that’s seemed to do well and I respect her still after the years.

Oh yeah, she seems switched on. I was thinking just now, Mandy Moore is another. They just seem to get through life/fame without the same drama and infamy as others.

I'd been hearing of Christina Aguilera over the years but I never really listened to her. Reminds me of the Marilyn movie I saw once. Beautiful, with such a powerful voice. And that video had a lot of meaning to it. Really nice choices Galen.

I wouldn't say I've got a crush on Ariana Grande but she's a wonderful artiste and I've followed her music over the years.

There's a lot of good artists out there, Christina Aguilera is one of them although not all her music is suited to me. I don't think I know what Ariana Grande looks like to be honest. Sings ok though.

Lol. It's alright. I think I read your comment of not knowing who Cardi B is and I just had to laugh. I don't think I'd blame you though. These people cater more towards Gen Z. Though, I most of the songs on my playlist are oldies.

I looked up Cardi B and even saw a YouTube video, an interview or some such. I lasted about four seconds...She's repulsive.

Lmao. She's got loyal fans that could slice you up in a second with those words. Never been a fan but generally, Gen Z artistes are a constant source of amusement to me. Only a few really get it.

She's got loyal fans that could slice you up in a second with those words

I don't even know what to say to that remark...so I'll say this...People have opinions and are entitled to them just as people are welcome to slice me up, whatever that means...I have knives too though, and I know how to use them, I'm up for it.

Oh, I was being figurative. I meant with words. And yes, there's no reason you shouldn't say what you want cause of people's reactions to it. But by all means, I'd love to see you wield a knife. Lol

Ah ok, well either way, knifey-words or real knives, I'm ok with it.

Hahaha that's a few crushes you're having to deal with G-dog. I don't blame you. They are good choices. I do have a few crushes on female vocalists, but you read my posts so you probably already picked up on that. I'm going to be including a few today as well. You might even like the songs (if you find time to listen to them).

I have a very contentious view on what feminism has become these days which I'm not going to include here, but I do tend to agree, I've come across many women who have had a very rough go of life and managed to somehow picked themselves up and head higher. I have a lot of respect for them, it takes tenacity and courage or a heavy dose of stubbornness.

You're right I suppose...and I haven't even divulged them all.

I prefer to see artists grind it out for their success, anyone to grind it out for their success really, as it means more when it comes. Winning it in some fucktard game show like The Voice doesn't (to me) seem right. I know people will disagree with me, that's their choice too.

I'll listen to your songs when you post them...and might have some more crushes by the end of it. Lol.

But watch out, make sure have three, you'd not want the fucken music police to pull you over for Two Tune Tuesdaying. You'll end up in music jail. 🤣

grind it out for their success really, as it means more when it comes.

I absolutely agree 100%!

Hahaha, I'll comply to avoid the music police this time, but you know me - I'm disobedient and a bit of a rebel 😁

When thinking of the female artists to add to the list, I first thought of a bunch of them that play instruments or create music without vocals. But I suppose that is for another post or comment ;)

Not sure if I have a crush on many of the female singers with beautiful voices, but if any, I would say at least Withney Houston joins this exclusive club. As well as Lana Del Rey. Third but not last, Róisín Murphy.

You are so right about the struggles of females in this male-dominated society. I do hope it's getting better for women these days. Just yesterday I was watching this mini-series 'Rule of the Game' about a family business in which the females just had to accept any behaviour of the male-dominated management. This a fresh reminder again regarding this topic. Also, the amount of incidents my female friends have to deal with when they go out to bars, clubs or festivals, is staggering. Though I hoped these types of incidents is lowered over the years, it doesn't seem like it.

It's difficult to imagine what it must be like for women in a society dominated by men although I get some idea from my partner who has experienced some unpleasantness. Men really can be pigs...not all though, there's many good ones and they need to set an example to be followed. You list three excellent female artists, two of which I know well and the third I'll learn about over time.

Thanks for commenting, I appreciate it, and hope you're well.

I enjoyed this post very much!!! I really enjoyed it, the second and third artists fascinate me.

I've been following Christina Aguilera forever, she has an amazing voice. I love all her songs.

As for Christina Perri, wowww she fascinates me!!! I leave you my favourite song of hers, which marks a special moment in my life, she talks about love through time. That one that will be forever... yes it marks my life.

Many artists were present in my life, one of them Celine Dion, this song makes me have an incredible strength. I love all her songs!

Another artist that is more recent in time and her voice is .... super cool, just like Celine's, is Adele. I leave you one of my favourites!

Many artists were present at different times, in different ways.

What a great post! Thank you very, very much!

All great tracks and artists you've linked here, all of which I know well. I was excited to post this one this week and hoped a few would chime in with some great female artists, pleasingly many have.

Thanks for your input.

I like XTina. Such good memories of her "dirty" years. Pretty sure I had her Maxim shoot pinned to my wall when I was a bachelor. Good stuff! Jar of hearts is a great song too and anything by Faith is classic!
