Away
I'm often on the very brink of running away, literally. I don't mean from my girl-person, I mean modern society and all its complexities, the noise, pollution, consumerism, ego, selfishness, fucken AI and...well I think you get the idea. I prefer wide open spaces, fewer people and a more simple life. It's with this in mind, running away to better places, I've selected the three tracks below, all tracks are one's I like and all a little different, but the same sort of theme I guess.
I'm going to admit right up front that I had a massive crush on Andrea Corr, the lead singer of this family group out of Ireland called, The Corrs. I'll be honest and say that I probably still do. Maybe. Definitely. I saw them live once...it didn't help me get over my crush, just deepened it. Anyway, in the theme of this week's music this track is about running away...Hopefully Andrea runs this way! (I know she won't, but one can hope.) Runaway - The Corrs
I never had a crush on any of these girls...and if you believe that you're bloody bonkers, of course I did! My greatest memory of this song is driving along on through the Flinders Ranges in my F100 truck with my girl-human beside me, wearing short shorts, an off the shoulder top pulled low, cowgirl boots and RayBan Aviators on singing along to it with her hand in mine. If you don't relate, I feel sorry for you. Cowboy take me away - The Chicks
Nope, no crush on the lead singer of this band...(Ok, just a little bit.) I heard this track a long time ago, the original version, and when The Band Perry released this cover was excited, even more so to see how great the video was. I'd be lying if I said I'd not thought of doing what the lad does in the video, just heading out there into the wilderness on a whim. I'm sort of drawn to it to be honest, and to hike off into the distance like in the video...yep, that's appealing. Do you ever wish you could just hit the road with your life on your back and no fixed destination? Gentle on my mind - The Band Perry

Gonna be hard to beat those three...
Here, hold my beer bro!! LoL
I gotta try...
Give it a go man, I have complete faith in you!
S O L D !
I might just go on down to the Grundy County Auction...
I know every word to that song.
See You There.!
😂
Such great tunes. I remember when Breathless came out by the Corrs. I was instantly mesmerized by them! The Chicks are just classic and that cover of gentle on my mind is really good. So good it is in one of my main playlists right alongside the original by Glen Campbell.
Thanks man, three really great tracks in my mind. I don't really care if people like the tracks I present, some of them I don't even like, (last week's for instance), but it's always nice to get some positive feedback and find some common ground. I figured these three would do that.
Wow! thanks for sharing these beautiful songs with us thou have not heard the songs, but I guess it going to be great music to listen too, I guess it be great if I can check out the music and listen to them one after the other.
It could be great, but you'll have to listen to them first before you'll know.
Where is this place?
Southern Flinders Ranges, South Australia, Australia.
Running away from city life and going to live in the country is a dream of mine. Recently I have thought more seriously about it but in this case I would strongly consider going for a small coastal town. lol
Ah, the Corrs. My wife, @clairemobey and @jasperdick who are "Mobeydick" on stage often play one of their songs on stage as a cover. As Jasper says: "Three hot sisters and one confused brother."
Now what song do they sing of theirs on stage? They are tagged in this comment, I am sure they will say. I think its a song the Corrs actually covered from another song... hmmmm... dunno.
I grew up in a small rural town and loved it...I could go back, but it's not as small now. I get away though, when I can.
🤣 Indeed, well said!
Yes, we do "Dreams" by Fleetwood Mac, but more the chord structure that the Corrs did when they covered it!
Yes! That's the one!
I'm so glad I found this thread 🤣🤣🤣🤣 day made. Really babe @littlebee4 and I were JUST discussing this. They're looking for a little country plot in Ireland. Can't say I'm not horribly jealous. I'm keen on our garden route here in SA though. I like to swim without hypothermia 🤣
Indeed!
I think J would like that, he's been on and off pressuring me to move onto a yacht or something. I'm the problem there XD
What's stopping you?
Things that I've committed to and require my attention until they're complete. The usual.
Were you quoting my question or asking me the same one back? XD
So when the things are complete you'll think more about it? Do you think they'll ever be complete? :D
If you were asking me the same question back, my computer (or more accurately the project on the computer) is what's stopping me, I don't trust being on a boat on the ocean with salt water around my precious.
And also I like my other job and I can't work that one from anywhere.
I was quoting.
The situation has a definite end point and will be completely finalised when it reaches it, so the plan then is to have no fixed address for some time, a few years maybe.
I'm not sure if living on a boat is my thing, I see the attraction and think I'd like it...but the ocean is too unpredictable for me though. I'm more the cabin in the woods guy. I hope you make it work for you though, maybe when that project is complete?
Unless something drastically changes or a cure for aging is found, I don't think this project will ever get finished ;-;
I have to keep trying though
I could go a cabin near a beach somewhere though I'd have to fight J about that (we could do it but we'd be way out somewhere). I really like the area we're in (it's very convenient) but that's probably something we'll have to start more seriously considering if the density keeps increasing (I see those units steadily encroaching).
Lol, you're looking for that too? You, me and seven billion others I guess.
I know a lot of people that are quite happy to shuffle off this mortal coil when it's time either due to religious reasons or because they genuinely believe that if aging was cured they'd be forced to do this work for a living wage slavery nonsense forever.
So maybe slightly less than 7 billion? XD
Six billion, one million gazillion tripzillion, seven hundred and ninety three thousand four hundred and seventeen others then.
Seems legit [nods sagely]
I hope you meet that vocalist someday. Who knows what could happen.... ??
It might, time will reveal all. I'll do a post if it happens.
Hmmmmm, thats fine! Corrs, dixie chicks... Love them and those tunes always make my heart longing for more. Yes, leaving that loud and always busy busy society behind. From quantity to personal quality 😘 I am on my way
Good tracks right? I'm glad you like them.
Also, I'm with you on the escape society thing. Where and when are we going! 😁
What a beautiful woman in the first song, I had heard her but didn't know her artist. It is a more than beautiful song. How many times I also want to escape from the city... too many times. I want peace!
The second song... ohhh I love the boots! And the violin! It's beautiful! I've never heard it before, thanks for bringing it up, I loved it!
F100 truck? Really?
My grandfather had a white F100
Yeah, I've often thought about that, getting out and leaving it all behind... again. How super cool the third song, with those natural landscapes, I love waterfalls!
The song has a rhythm that encourages you to go out without that fixed direction! Long live nature!
Sorry, I missed this comment.
Yeah F100 pickup truck. I've always had four wheel drives and pickup trucks and that F100 was one of the best I had. I did a post on it a while back actually.
I like nature, any who read my posts enough will see that and I can't see it changing. I am fortunate to live in a country that has so much of it, most of Australia has no people in it and that suits me fine. Something like 95% of the population lives within a hundreds kilometres of the ocean and then, primarily in major cities which leaves a lot of room for people like to me to explore.
That's the coolest thing about everything.... few people. I live in the center of the city.... the circumstances... but.... I'm already looking for a village, something quieter, I want peace and nature!
#villagelife
Peace, harmony and relaxation!
Your memory is very sharp means you remember even the little details of your girl sitting along you in truck singing along the song.
My memory is pretty good, I don't forget much of significance and am able to put superfluous and non-important information right out of mind. It's a good situation.
I've always loved the Corrs. Not for the vocalist, but for the music. Great vibes here Galen, making Tuesday awesome as usual!
Oh yeah, the music. Lol. There's that too.
She is a fine thing, no doubt about it, I used to go out with her when I was younger (then I woke up)
The girl with the long hair in the Chicks is a looker too... Something about a good looking lady and a violin!
I know what you mean about running away to a simpler life too, it's taken me a long time to realise my Dad had it right all along, he does not go in for consumerism or any of that lark, the only person I know who does not have a mobile (cell) phone - never has, never will.
There's a great deal of freedom that comes from finding value and enjoyment in the simple things if life and it doesn't get much simpler than spending time with nature and away from the husske and bustle of city life, or one dependant on consumerist-centric thoughts. I envy those people from earlier times. Yes, life was harder but I think it was better.
Andrea Corr, what a lovely lady huh? 😋
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yeahhhhhhhhhhhh!!! She sure is...
Somehow missed the reply here man, but ya simpler times, I'd gladly go back to no mobile (cell) phones and simpler times.
No stress on the comment mate, I know you have a lot to do.
