Music, fair and food (with friends!) [ENG/SPA]
Here in my city they usually have fairs from time to time. Sometimes they are entertaining and there are lots of things to do. This time they were going to last a week here and they would bring live music and other types of activities.
I was planning on going to the fair a couple of times, but before the first day of the fair, in the morning, I got caught up in a nice event around here that involved the grandchildren and children of some neighbors and friends. It was a music recital to which I was invited.
Acá en mi ciudad suelen traer ferias de vez en cuanto. A veces son entretenidas y hay muchas cosas por hacer. En esta ocasión iban a durar una semana acá y traerían música en vivo y otros tipos de actividades.
Planeaba ir un par de veces a la feria, pero antes del primer día de feria, en la mañana, me vi envuelto en un lindo evento que hubo por acá y que involucró a los nietos e hijos de algunos vecinos y amigos. Fue un recital de música al que me invitaron.
The recital took place in the auditorium of "El sistema música para todos" in Indepedencencia, Yaracuy state.
It is a small auditorium but the truth is that it was full of little aspirants who want to learn a lot about music and this is great, because this is how the future musicians of the new generations are formed, teaching them from an early age.
El recital se hizo en el auditorio de "El sistema música para todos" núcleo de Indepedencencia,estado Yaracuy.
Es un auditorio pequeño pero la verdad estaba repleto de pequeños aspirantes que desean aprender mucho de la música y esto es genial, porque así es que se forman los futuros músicos de las nuevas generaciones, enseñándoles desde pequeños.
Well, I was invited because I am also a musician and from time to time I sit down to practice with these kids (many of them are neighbors), teaching them a little of what I know.
Here I took a picture with the grandmother of one of the girls who plays violin. She is a great friend, and she needed me to help her with the snacks so I gladly agreed to help.
Pues bien, me invitaron porque también soy músico y de vez en cuando me siento a practicar con estos niños (muchos son vecinos), enseñándoles un poco de lo que sé.
Acá tomé una foto con la abuela de una de las niñas que toca violín. Es una gran amiga, además necesitaba que la ayudara con los refrigerios así que con gusto acepté ayudar.
Here you can see the two that we went to see at the recital. Obviously their faces are blurred, but you can see them playing their instruments. It's great that little by little they are progressing and learning more and more of this beautiful art of music.
Acá pueden ver a los dos que fuimos a ver al recital. Obviamente tienen el rostro difuminado, pero ahí pueden verlos tocando cada uno su instrumento. Es genial que poco a poco estén progresando y aprendiendo cada vez más de este bello arte como lo es la música.
After the recital, the two families and I went to a place with a family atmosphere. They were selling wood-fired soup, which is very tasty, so that's what we bought. Besides, due to the heat we took the opportunity to buy some beers too...
We have already brought the music, the food and the friends... the fair is missing...
Ya después del recital, nos fuimos las dos familias y yo a un lugar con ambiente familiar. Estaban vendiendo sopa a la leña, que es muy rica, así que eso compramos. Además por el calor que había aprovechamos de comprar unas cervecitas también...
Ya llevamos la música, la comida y los amigos... falta la feria...
The fair was at night. It was held in a park called Severiano Gimenez Park. It's a pretty big place, with plenty of space for all the people attending and a lot of security.
Just look here, all the crowd that attended.
La feria fue en la noche. Esta se hizo en un Parque llamado Severiano Gimenez. Es un lugar bastante amplio, con mucho espacio para toda la gente que va a asistir y un montón de seguridad.
Solo vean acá, toda la multitud que asistió.
There were all kinds of shops and stalls that were exhibiting different things. In our case, we did not tour the exhibits that night, but headed to the fair with the mechanical attractions, otherwise we would not have been able to leave early that night.
However, we did see some car and truck exhibits along the way.
Habían todo tipo de locales y puestos que estaban haciendo exhibición de distintas cosas. En nuestro caso, no recorrimos las exhibiciones esa noche, sino que nos dirigimos a la feria con las atracciones mecánicas, sino no habríamos podido salir temprano esa noche.
Sin embargo, sí vimos en el camino algunas exhibiciones de autos y camiones.
There was also a small exhibition where they had a lot of motorcycles, all really beautiful.
I hope someday to be able to buy one, I really like motorcycles.
The prices they had were 600, 900 and others from 1300 dollars and up. Someday guys, someday.
También había una pequeña exhibición donde tenían un montón de motocicletas, todas realmente bellísimas.
Espero algún día poder comprarme una, la verdad es que me gustan las motocicletas. Los precios que estas tenían eran de 600, 900 y otras de 1300 dólares para arriba. Algún día chicos, algún día.
On the other hand I came across this pair of really beautiful old cars, the kind that are for exhibition. There were too many people, so I could barely take pictures of them.
Por otro lado me topé con este par de viejos autos realmente hermosos, antiguos, de esos que son para exhibición. Había demasiada gente, así que apenas y pude tomarle fotos.
Where I did manage to take pictures was next to a small antique fire truck, which they had there for people to take pictures.
We took some pictures of the kids and my friends also took advantage and each took a picture. They even took pictures of themselves wearing a fireman's helmet. But it didn't look good on me so I didn't take one like that.
It was lucky that I was not alone, among so many people it is even dangerous to try to take a selfie.
Donde sí logré tomarme fotos fue junto a un pequeño auto antiguo de bomberos, el cual tenían allí para que las personas se tomaran fotos.
Tomamos algunas fotos a los niños y mis amigas también aprovecharon y cada una se tomó una foto. Incluso ellas se tomaron fotos con un casco de bombero. Pero a mi no me quedaba bien así que no me tomé una así.
Fue una suerte que no estuviera solo, entre tanta gente es hasta peligroso intentar hacer un selfie.
Finally we arrived at the fair, where all the mechanical attractions were.
The truth is that these places take me back to my childhood, because I remember all those moments when I was excited to ride these attractions.
I have never been on one of these flying chairs.
There people get on it and it starts spinning at high speed, just look at how people can't even focus because of how fast it spins.
Finalmente llegamos a la feria, donde estaban todas las atracciones mecánicas.
La verdad es que estos lugares me trasladan a mi infancia, porque recuerdo todos esos momentos en los que subía a estas atracciones emocionado.
Nunca me he subido a una silla voladora de estas. Allí la gente se sube y esta comienza a girar a gran velocidad, solo miren que las personas ni siquiera se pueden enfocar por lo rápido que gira.
Although one of my friends was nervous, the other was not. So he took her and the two girls were encouraged to get on the flying chairs.
At that moment they gave me wallets, purses, phones and everything, so they wouldn't fly away while they were going around in these flying chairs.
Aunque una de mis amigas se mostraba nerviosa, la otra no. Así que la tomó a ella y las dos chicas se animaron a subir a las sillas voladoras.
En ese momento ellas me dieron carteras, bolsos, teléfonos y todo, para que no salieran volando mientras ellas daban vueltas en esas sillas voladoras.
When they came downstairs, their hair and make-up ran out. Both of them were left with tousled hair and one of them had tears in her eyes, so their make-up ran off. Girls 0, flying chairs 1.
There were also attractions for the little ones, those carousels with ducks and other Disney characters, small trucks that turn in a circuit, a small boat and even inflatable attractions.
There was a little bit of everything, unfortunately I could not take as many pictures as I wanted because it was at night, there were a lot of people and I did not want to put my cell phone at risk, you know what I mean?
Cuando bajaron se acabaron los pelos peinados y el maquillaje. Las dos quedaron con los pelos alborotados a una de ellas se le salieron las lágrimas así que se les corrió el maquillaje. Chicas 0, sillas voladoras 1.
Habían atracciones también para los pequeños, esos carruseles con patos y otros personajes de disney, pequeños camiones que giran en un circuito, un pequeño barco y hasta atracciones inflables.
Había de todo un poco, lamentablemente no pude tomar tantas fotos como quería pues era de noche, había mucha gente y no quería poner en riesgo mi celular, ustedes me entienden...
At the end of the night we went to a fast food stand. We had spent almost everything we had on the tickets for the mechanical attractions, so we had to resort to the always reliable hot dogs.
They were really tasty and although the place was crowded, we didn't wait too long to eat.
The important thing is that we had fun at the fair, we also ate cotton candy, churros, ice cream and cotufas (also known as popcorn).
Ya para finalizar la noche fuimos a un puesto de comida rápida. Habíamos gastado casi todo lo que llevamos en los ticket para las atracciones mecánicas, así que tuvimos que recurrir a los siempre confiables perros calientes.
La verdad estaban muy ricos y aunque el sitio estaba repleto de gente, no esperamos demasiado para comer. Lo importante es que nos divertimos en la feria, comimos también algodón de azúcar, churros, helados y cotufas (también conocidos como palomitas de maiz o popcorn).
The truth is that we had a lot of fun in this first visit to the fair. I'll tell you that I went twice more, but I'll tell you about that later...
