I'm forming the habit of checking on families and friends lately more than I usually do. And I will have this song People
by Libianca to thank for that.
Doing this, I spoke to a friend I hadn't reached out to in a bit and I was surprised when she told me about her recent crashed marriage. I felt I should have reached out to her more in the past, it might have been a really difficulty time for her.
She is my good friend whom we have dripped apart in the mix of figuring my own life out.
The song has been on my playlist since it pumped up on my screen while I was watching a YouTube food recipe channel some months back. Don't mind me, lol I'm a foodie, and I'm always on a hunt for something delicious. I think it is time I write more about it.
In a world where things seem to be getting scary and crazier every day, most of us seem to be going through one thing or another and sometimes we get buried in our shits that we can barely look out for each other.
The current economic climate has not been favorable to many, yes the world has always been a troubled place but lately has been worse.
Some are barely getting by, by putting on smiling faces but deep down, they might be lonely, or fighting for themselves, and could do with a little bit more kindness from their loved ones.
That simple phone call, a single heartfelt message, or that little visit to a friend's place while you listen to one another over a cup of tea, might be all they needed for some to be able to hang on and keep on fighting for themselves.

According to her, she wrote the song during a time in her life when she felt unseen and unheard.

It is very natural when you have a great heart, you won't want people to go through some pains you went through. And you would try to use all your voice, all the power at your disposal to liberate as many people as you can.
Some of us have been there when all that we want is just for someone to listen to us, to try and understand what we are going through, to feel our pains. And it can be tough when no such people are in our corner that we can rely on.
I have been there in the past and it was heartbreaking, also how can I ever forget those times when someone was there for me, to help me live through my pains and come out stronger? I'm forever grateful for being so blessed for such people.
And writing about it now, is just my little tiny way of paying it forward, saying that I care, I listen and I hear someone.
For I don't know who might need to hear this, hang in there, you're not alone, it might seem dark and gray but I'm praying that God will send help your way.❤❤❤
If there are things this song is saying to us is that we need to be checking up on people we care about more, a little hello, how have you been lately? And maybe a great conversion might start flowing from there.
Most especially when we notice a little change in their attitude, we may never know what is happening underneath unless we pay attention and ask the right questions.
Time is tough, yes, but when we share our pains and stick together, it can get easier and better, knowing that we are not alone.
Libianca is an amazing young Cameroonian artist who has won my heart with the way she expresses herself using her songs, her emotions are real and I could feel her in the depth of my soul and her uniquely captivating voice is mesmerizing.
If you need a reminder, which I think we all sometimes do, that we need to listen more, show care and love a bit more to those around us even when it is hard, judge people less, and just spread good vibes and love, enjoy soulful songs on another level, then you might love to have her on your playlist.

Never listen more than you can (we all need time to recharge), so don't be too hard on yourself for not checking up on some people a while. Maybe you neeeded this time to figure yourself out, and how could you be of use to someone else, before you've figured yourself out, my dear? :)
That being said, I think it's wonderful that you've reached this conclusion, and are actively trying to be more present. The world would be much better if more people did.
You are right, there are definitely a limit to what we can absolve from others, but sometimes I feel and I know I can do more in checking up on my friends.

You know, there are limit to reaching out to some certain people especially when you know who they are. Let me cite an example which I have talked about in my post some times back. I have this friend who never cares to call to check on me except to bill me and if I try to call to check up on her, the next thing would be for her to send me her account details to send something which I find crazy on my part. This is why I don't pick her calls nor call her because I wouldn't want to go through giving excuses and she, trying to pressure me into sending something. To me, I find that being unfair on her part because I have other friends who doesn't act that way.
In such a situation, not calling or checking up on her wouldn't make me a bad person, right? since I know the end from her. But in all, reaching out to people is good once in a while but we must also know our limits and boundaries to doing that.
Not at all @princessbusayo, I know some friends are full of self-entitlement, and it is best to draw a clear line with such people.
Some people need to be heard, and they need someone who can listen and share their thoughts during a tough time, I'm talking about such friends in my post.
Believe me, if a friend only knows how to bill me, I wouldn't hesitate to take such people off my friend list.
