THE BEATLES POP ART- PORTRAIT WITH ACRYLIC PAINTING ON RECYCLED CARDBOARD [ENG-ESP]

Hello guys, how are you, I hope you are doing well, I have had horrible problems with the internet, and for those of us who work through it, it is very frustrating, but I think it is being solved. I got to work on a drawing that I want to share with you, it is about the legendary band The Beatles, I have made a painting with the faces of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. The painting is made on a sheet of recycled cardboard, to which I made some cuts to get this pop art style painting, somewhat minimalist. I will explain step by step how I got to the final result, let's start!

Hola muchachos como están?, espero que se encuentren muy bien, he tenido problemas horribles con el internet, y para quienes trabajamos a través de él, es algo muy frustrante, pero creo que se está solucionando. Me puse a trabajar en un dibujo que quiero compartir con ustedes, se trata de la legendaria banda The Beatles, he hecho un cuadro con los rostros de John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison y Ringo Starr. El cuadro está realizado sobre una lámina de cartón reciclado, al cual le hice algunos cortes para sacar este cuadro estilo pop art, un tanto minimalista. Explicaré paso a paso como llegué al resultado final, comencemos!

PROCESS

I used a black and white image as a guide for the drawing, in this way it is easier to draw the lines, I also used a sheet of cardboard that I had left over from a previous job, on it I began to make the drawings of the portraits. I made the measurements so that each portrait could have a small mark and thus be able to paint it in different colors, at first I thought of doing it only in black and white but later I imagined it in colors and I liked that idea more.

Utilicé una imagen en blanco y negro como guía para el dibujo, de esta manera es más faicl dibujar las líneas, utilicé también una lámina de cartón que me sobró de un trabajo anterior, sobre él comencé a hacer los dibujos de los retratos. Hice las medidas para que cada retrato pudiera tener un pequeño marcó y así poder pintarlo de diferentes colores, en un principio pensé en hacerlo solo en blanco y negro pero después lo imaginé de colores y me gustó más esa idea.

After making all the sketches for the faces, I started with the first most difficult part, which consists of making the cardboard cuts following the lines I drew for the faces, the objective is to separate a part so that the inside of the cardboard can be seen, that is to say the part that has relief and the other part to leave it intact to later paint it. For this I used two types of cutting, one with an ordinary paper knife to make the lines longer and a small scalpel to make them more difficult cuts.

Después de hacer todos los bocetos para los rostros comencé con la primera parte más dificil, la cual consiste en hacer los cortes del cartón siguiendo las líneas que dibujé para los rostros, el objetivo es separar una parte para que se vea el interior del cartón, es decir la parte que tiene relieve y la otra parte dejarla intacta para luego pintarla. Para esto utilicé dos tipos de corte, uno con una navaja de papel corriente para hacer las líneas más largas y un bisturí pequeño para hacerlos cortes más difíciles.

The next step is a little more complicated than the previous one, it is about removing the part of the cardboard that we will not use, for this I used a small wooden stick to gradually lift the layer that I was going to remove. As you can see, I did it very carefully so as not to damage the cardboard, it takes time if we do it very carefully. Then I am also gradually removing the remains of paper that were still adhered to the surface, with the help of a soft sandpaper I finished cleaning that entire area.

El siguiente paso es un poco más complicado que el anterior, se trata de retirar la parte del cartpon que no usaremos, para esto utilicé un pequeño palito de madera para ir levantando poco a poco la capa que iba a extraer. Como pueden observar lo hice con mucho cuidado para no estropear el cartón, lleva su tiempo si lo hacemos con mucho cuidado. Despues voy quitando también poco a poco los restos de papel que todavía estaban adheridos en la superficie, con la ayuda de una lija suave terminé de limpiar toda esa zona.

Now I start with the painting process, this is where I changed my mind about the colors, so I used the white color to paint the faces and to work as a base for other colors, since I realized that the cardboard paper absorbs much paint so a single coat would not suffice. So I painted each face one by one until I finished with the 4 Beatles.

Ahora comienzo con el proceso de pintar, aquí fue donde cambié de parecer en cuanto a los colores, así que usé el color blanco para pintar los rostros y que funcionara como base para otros colores, ya que me di cuenta que el papel del cartón absorbe mucho la pintura así que una sola capa no bastaria. Así que pinté uno a uno cada rostro hasta terminar con los 4 Beatles.

To finish, I used very striking colors, alternating the colors between warm and cold, I also made a contrast between the small frame that surrounds each face and the faces themselves, I think it looks better that way. That's how I finished all the painting of The Beatles.

Para finalizar utilicé colores muy llamativos, alternando los colores entre cálidos y fríos, también hice un contraste entre el pequeño marco que rodea cada rostro y los rostros en sí, creo que así luce mejor. De esa forma di por finalizado toda la pintura de The Beatles.

FINAL WORK

This is how this pop art of The Beatles was finished, while I was doing it I listened to the White Album and also the Let It Be album, some true jewels of music and rock and roll, I thought how far those young people came when TV barely existed and the radio, they really were a worldwide phenomenon that made them the legend. Of all things, there is always something that catches my attention until it becomes my favorite, in this case, my favorite beatle is George Harrison, he always seemed like a nice person to me, so much so that I consider his solo works better than those of his exes -mates, virtuoso on the guitar and with very deep lyrics. Así quedó finalizado este pop art de The Beatles, mientras lo hacía escuché el Album Blanco y tambien el albun Let It Be, unas verdaderas joyas de la música y del rock and roll, pensaba lo lejos que llegaron esos jóvenes cuando apenas existía la TV y la radio, realmente fueron un fenómeno mundial que los convirtió el leyenda. Siempre de todas las cosas hay algo que me llama la atención hasta convertirse en mi favorito, en este caso, mi beatle favorito es George Harrison, siempre me pareció una persona agradable, tanto que sus trabajos en solitario los considero mejores que los de sus ex-compañeros, virtuoso con la guitarra y con letras muy profundas.
