Son innumerables las experiencias y reflexiones que se han manifestado en mi vida para obtener valiosas perspectivas sobre temas y situaciones que antes creía inexistentes. Y esto se lo debo especialmente a mi curiosidad por escuchar una amplia gama de géneros musicales, hasta lograr diferenciarme de las tendencias musicales convencionales mediáticas. Esas manifestaciones reflexivas, ocurrieron como fluir con el mismo río por cauces diferentes, desembocando en aguas de sensaciones sonoras únicas, navegando por las olas de la reflexión y adentrándome en las profundidades de mis pensamientos en busca de esos significados que dan sentido a nuestra existencia.

Some countless experiences and reflections have manifested themselves in my life to gain valuable perspectives on issues and situations that I previously thought did not exist. And I owe this, especially to my curiosity to listen to a wide range of musical genres until I managed to differentiate myself from conventional media musical trends. These reflective manifestations, flow with the same river through different channels, flowing into waters of unique sound sensations, sailing the waves of reflection, and entering into the depths of my thoughts in search of those meanings that give meaning to our existence.
The mind can recreate perfect melodies... life offers unexpected melodies
Pero a pesar de vivir experiencias reflexivas a nivel musical, a veces me han generado conflictos de convivencia, porque las tendencias musicales dominantes, han permanecido arraigadas en el entorno en el que crecí y un género musical con el potencial de presentar temas y tonalidades diferentes, puede resultar en una experiencia auditiva desagradable para muchas personas. En mi caso, así me ocurrió cuando se trataba del rock o el metal, un mundo musical que comprende una estética de tonalidades oscuras y repleta de ritmos estridentes, pero algunos encontramos un significado vital como el mismo oxígeno que respiramos y que vitaliza cada célula de nuestro cuerpo.

But despite living reflective experiences on a musical level, sometimes they have generated conflicts of coexistence for me, because the dominant musical trends have remained rooted in the environment in which I grew up and a musical genre with the potential to present different themes and tonalities, can result in an unpleasant listening experience for many people. In my case, this was the case when it came to rock or metal, a musical world that comprises an aesthetic of dark tonalities and full of strident rhythms, but some of us find a vital meaning like the same oxygen we breathe and that vitalizes every cell in our body.
Recuerdo que cuando era más joven, las primeras agrupaciones de metal o rock que escuché, fueron las agrupaciones que veía en MTV. Recuerdo que escuchaba a agrupaciones como Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Radiohead, Metallica, etc. Y siempre intentaba compartirlas con mis compañeros de clase, amigos y familiares, pero les resultaban algo completamente desagradables e incomprensibles. En ese periodo, también me esforzaba por contactar con profesores de ingles para traducir las letras al español e intentar comprender el significado de las canciones. Recuerdo que mis preferidas, que sigo conservando, son Radiohead - 2+2=5, Korn - Thoughtless y Opeth - Blackwater Park. Cada una comprende parte de esos procesos reflexivos que tuve cuando era más joven y quizás usted pueda identificarse con ellas, no en el sentido de gusto musical en cuanto a ritmos o género, sino por significado de sus letras.
Si escucha Radiohead, podrá comprender que su significado trata sobre como la influencia de una poderosa autoridad puede intentar distorsionar el significado de la realidad usando medios propagandísticos; aquellos que intentan ofrecer una interpretación critica pueden ser castigados, pero aquellos que simplemente prefieren obedecer a la autoridad son recompensados con ofertas laborales envidiable y cargos públicos ostentosos. Si escucha Korn y Opeth, notara que sus canciones concuerdan con la canción de Radiohead, con la diferencia de que la canción de KORN puede asociarse la experiencia del maltrato escolar. Y la de Opeth, podría interpretarse como una representación de un mundo decadente y complejo, plagado de personas que tienen la potestad de realizar cambios positivos, pero simplemente lo ven y eligen no hacerlo.

I remember when I was younger, the first metal or rock bands I listened to were the bands I saw on MTV. I remember listening to bands such as Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Radiohead, Metallica, etc. I would always try to share them with my classmates, friends, and family, but they would find them completely unpleasant and incomprehensible. In that period, I also made an effort to contact English teachers to translate the lyrics into Spanish and try to understand the meaning of the songs. I remember my favorites, which I still have, are Radiohead - 2+2=5, Korn - Thoughtless y Opeth - Blackwater Park. Each one comprises part of those reflective processes I had when I was younger and perhaps you can identify with them, not in the sense of musical taste in terms of rhythms or genre, but by the meaning of its letters.
If you listen to Radiohead, you will understand that its meaning is about how the influence of a powerful authority can try to distort the meaning of reality using propagandistic means; those who try to offer a critical interpretation can be punished, but those who simply prefer to obey authority are rewarded with enviable job offers and ostentatious public positions. If you listen to Korn and Opeth, you will notice that their songs match Radiohead's songs, with the difference that Korn's song can be associated with the experience of school abuse. And Opeth's song could be interpreted as a representation of a decadent and complex world, plagued by people who have the power to make positive changes, but simply see it and choose not to.
Entonces, si las canciones que mencioné anteriormente, considerando que abordan diferentes aspectos de nuestras vidas o de situaciones que contrastan con el mundo actual, ¿deben ser despreciadas porque su estética oscura y sus ritmos estridentes son completamente desagradables? Sea cual sea la respuesta, lo cierto es que parte de esas canciones compaginaron perfectamente con situaciones que percibí en aquel instante y aun existentes: personas cometiendo atrocidades por motivos ideológicos o bélicos, personas que ostentan el poder u ocupan un pequeño cargo público, predispuestos a manipular y mentir; o las empresas que ofrecen salarios paupérrimos, por debajo del costo de vida y amenazando con despidos a quienes se opongan a trabajar en condiciones inhumanas. Y yo, en mi juventud, tuve que sobrellevar situaciones complejas, en ausencia de una sabía guía que necesitaba para afrontar situaciones estresantes e injustas que dañaron mi autoestima, justamente en el espacio educativo que aspira a educarnos para una mejor vida.
Y, sin embargo, aún debo convivir con las prejuicios sociales hacia mis preferencias musicales que desplazan lo extraño o diferente al plano de lo despreciable, como si el lado musical de las tonalidades oscuras pudiera infectar el alma, al igual que un virus infecta nuestro cuerpo.
Escuchemos música... para que nuestra alma sienta la profundidad y belleza de su composición

So, if the songs I mentioned above, considering that they deal with different aspects of our lives or situations that contrast with today's world, should they be despised because their dark aesthetics and strident rhythms are completely unpleasant? Whatever the answer, the truth is that some of those songs perfectly matched situations that I perceived at that time and still exist: people committing atrocities for ideological or warlike reasons, people who hold power or occupy a small public office, predisposed to manipulate and lie; or companies that offer low wages, below the cost of living and threatening with dismissal those who refuse to work in inhumane conditions. And I, in my youth, had to cope with complex situations, in the absence of the guidance I needed to face stressful and unfair situations that damaged my self-esteem, precisely in the educational space that aspires to educate us for a better life.
And yet, I still have to live with the social prejudices towards my musical preferences, which move the strange or different to the plane of the despicable, as if the musical side of the dark tones could infect the soul, just as a virus infects our body.
Let's listen to music... so that our soul can feel the depth and beauty of its composition
