Saludos apreciados lectores, hoy doy vida y amor a mi blog con una anécdota sensible que me llena de regocijo y a la vez de sentimiento colectivo, ya que estuve durante este semana en la octavita de mi cumpleaños celebrando con el fervor de un pueblo donde es posible a través de su cultura y tradición, sentir aquello que se niegan a morir a pesar de la transculturización.
Greetings dear readers, today I give life and love to my blog with a sensitive anecdote that fills me with joy and at the same time with collective feeling, since I was during this week in the octave of my birthday celebrating with the fervor of a people where it is possible through their culture and tradition, to feel that which they refuse to die despite the transculturation.
He tenido una semana híper emotiva por múltiples situaciones, donde los cambios en mi vida laboral y personal han sido progresivos e inevitables, ambientes donde la alegría y el coraje han sido los valores que han iluminado mi camino.
I have had a hyper emotional week due to multiple situations, where changes in my work and personal life have been progressive and inevitable, environments where joy and courage have been the values that have illuminated my path.
Mi cumpleaños siguió siendo noticias entre los más allegados donde los mensajes de amor han sido de múltiples formas generándome gratas sorpresas que me impulsan a seguir siendo yo, un ser en constante evolución sin más que hacer lo propio, modesta y humildemente por mí y con los que bien me relaciono para nuestro bienestar común.
My birthday continued to be news among those closest to me where messages of love have come in many forms, generating pleasant surprises that encourage me to continue being me, a being in constant evolution, doing nothing more than doing my own modest and humble thing for myself and those with whom I relate well for our common welfare.
Este sábado 23 de marzo 2024 fue día de mi clase de percusión que estuvo de lujo, aquí aprendo y me conecto con otra metodología para ejecutar el tambor con ritmos afro venezolanos. Después de mi clase con cumpleaños y torta incluida, me invitaron a asistir a una de las tradiciones, que por lo que escuché es la más esperada de la semana santa en Caracas, siendo esta la baja de “Los Palmeros de Chacao”.
This Saturday March 23rd 2024 was the day of my percussion class which was great, here I learn and connect with another methodology to play the drum with Afro-Venezuelan rhythms. After my class with birthday and cake included, I was invited to attend one of the traditions, which from what I heard is the most expected of the holy week in Caracas, being this the "The Chacao Palmeros".
Realmente es una manifestación que había escuchado, pero no le había tomado mucha atención, pues mis tiempos de semana mayor han sido para ocuparlo en otras tareas personales donde nunca la devoción religiosa ha sido mi fortaleza, a pesar de las costumbres de mi linaje.
It is really a manifestation that I had heard, but I had not paid much attention to it, since my time during the week has been used for other personal tasks where religious devotion has never been my strength, in spite of the customs of my lineage.
Entusiasmada y curiosa me dirigí al punto de encuentro con quienes me invitaron, teniendo muy poco conocimiento sobres esta tradición, mis amigos me iban instruyendo en la medida que íbamos caminando al encuentro por las calles del municipio Chacao, calles donde ver la afluencia de gente me impacto, y más mirando una gran diversidad de personas del ámbito, artístico, cultural y político unidos por una misma finalidad.
Enthusiastic and curious I went to the meeting point with those who invited me, having very little knowledge about this tradition, my friends were instructing me as we were walking to the meeting point through the streets of the municipality of Chacao, streets where seeing the influx of people impacted me, and more watching a great diversity of people in the field, artistic, cultural and political united for the same purpose.
Según la consecuencia de este ritual, es una tradición caraqueña muy antiguo gracias a la fe de un sacerdote, quien a través de una peste que hubo en la ciudad días previos a la semana, pidió a Dios por la sanidad de los sobrevivientes, quien solicito a sus colaboradores subir a la montaña para traer al pueblo palma real y así honrar lo que se describe en la biblia cuando Jesús entro a Jerusalén y sus seguidores lo recibieron con hojas de palma real.
According to the consequence of this ritual, it is a very old Caracas tradition thanks to the faith of a priest, who through a plague that occurred in the city days before the week, asked God for the healing of the survivors, who asked his collaborators to climb the mountain to bring the people royal palm leaves and thus honor what is described in the bible when Jesus entered Jerusalem and his followers received him with royal palm leaves.
Desde entonces se creó la cofradía de los Palmeros de Chacao, grupo emblemático generacional de hombres quienes días antes de la semana santa se internan en el gran pulmón vegetal de Caracas, “El Ávila – Wararairepano” montaña de infinitas historias, mitos y leyendas. Allí pernoctan recolectando las palmas que luego traen a la ciudad.
Since then, the brotherhood of the Palmeros de Chacao was created, an emblematic generational group of men who days before Holy Week go into the great vegetal lung of Caracas, "El Ávila - Wararairepano", mountain of infinite stories, myths and legends. There they spend the night collecting the palms that they later bring to the city.
En este recorrido pude percibir, que esta tradición se convierte en un gran festín para recibir a los palmeros con las palmas que luego se convierten en símbolo de santidad, donde la multitud en conjunto con ellos las llevan a la iglesia, haciendo paradas para desacansar, y es allí donde son agasajados con cuidados, alimentos, bebidas, música, cantos y más, llenándolos de fuerza para que sigan su recorrido hasta la entrada de la iglesia donde los párrocos y su comitiva los reciben, roceandolos con agua bendita en nombre de Dios.
In this tour I could perceive that this tradition becomes a great feast to receive the palmeros with the palms that then become a symbol of holiness, where the crowd together with them take them to the church, making stops to rest, and it is there where they are entertained with care, food, drinks, music, songs and more, filling them with strength to continue their journey to the entrance of the church where the parish priests and their entourage receive them, sprinkling them with holy water in the name of God.
Son calles arriba y abajo donde se perciben un río de palmeros con grandes empaques de la codiciada planta que según aún no tienen efecto de sanación o protección hasta que sean bendecida por el párroco de la iglesia el día domingo de ramos.
There are streets up and down where you can see a river of palm trees with large packages of the coveted plant, which according to them still have no effect of healing or protection until they are blessed by the parish priest of the church on Palm Sunday.
También existe el relato de que tomar esas palmas de la montaña posee todo un ritual de cuidado físico y de higiene personal, ya que estas palmas poseen unas especies de garrapatita que se pegan en la piel produciendo fuerte urticaria, por tal motivo estos palmeros limpian las palmas y se forran con su vestimenta para evitar ser picados por estos insectos.
There is also the story that taking these palms from the mountain has a whole ritual of physical care and personal hygiene, since these palms have some kind of garrapatite that stick to the skin producing strong urticaria, for this reason these palmeros clean the palms and cover themselves with their clothes to avoid being bitten by these insects.
Por lo que escuché y percibí, esta bajada de los palmeros realmente es un acto de fe con gran sentido religioso, con esas palmas repartidas después de la bendición del sacerdote, las personas hacen crucecita para la protección de hogares y familias que duran un año, hasta que llegamos a este encuentro, donde la cruz del año pasado es quemada como símbolo de limpieza de los pecados cometidos, y con la nueva somos absueltos.
From what I heard and perceived, this descent of the palmeros is really an act of faith with great religious sense, with those palms distributed after the blessing of the priest, people make a little cross for the protection of homes and families that last a year, until we get to this meeting, where the cross of last year is burned as a symbol of cleansing of the sins committed, and with the new one we are absolved.
Mirando todo lo que concierne a esta conmemoración, sin quitarle su valor tradicional y de fe, concluyo que todo lo que aquí se entreteje es una excusa perfecta para reunir a creyentes y no creyentes, a cultores y manifestaciones que en conjunto con la música tradicional y el canto popular se origina una gran fiesta.
Looking at everything that concerns this commemoration, without taking away its traditional value and faith, I conclude that everything that is interwoven here is a perfect excuse to bring together believers and non-believers, worshipers and manifestations that together with traditional music and popular singing originates a great celebration
Una fiesta donde la gran urbe caraqueña de distintas parroquias hacieron acto de presencia formándose un encuentro con una singular mezcla de personas de distinto status sociales, sus vestimentas, expresiones y formas de comportarse lo identificaban, siendo algo que resultó muy gratas para mí.
A party where the great city of Caracas from different parishes made an act of presence forming a meeting with a unique mix of people of different social status, their clothes, expressions and ways of behaving identified them, being something that was very pleasing to me.
En mi caso andaba con los amigos que me invitaron a este magnífico festín, y allí de forma maravillosa me encontré con gente linda y nutritiva, algunos integrados al arte que con su gracia y sabiduría aportan a la sociedad todo lo mejor que saben dar.
In my case I was with friends who invited me to this magnificent feast, and there in a wonderful way I met with beautiful and nurturing people, some of them integrated to the art that with their grace and wisdom contribute to society all the best they know how to give.
Fue un momento genial para socializar, tomar un poco de bebidas espirituosas que hicieron mas jocoso el jolgorio entre gente alegre quienes desde su voluntad y fe, hacen votos de resguardo para hacer de esta semana días de reflexión y conmemoración a la obra y gracia de Jesús el Rey de Reyes.
It was a great time to socialize, have some spirits that made the merriment more jocular among joyful people who from their will and faith, make vows to make this week days of reflection and commemoration to the work and grace of Jesus the King of Kings.
