Hace 19 años cumplí uno de los sueños más interesantes de mi vida y, en esta ocasión, les contaré cuál fue y por qué lo considero así.
Resulta que una de las manifestaciones que más me gusta es la música. Y, aunque estudié piano y canto por mi cuenta, siempre me sentí como una cantante frustrada, al no poder dedicarme profesionalmente a esta actividad.

Pero en el 2006 tuve la posibilidad de cantar en un festival de artistas aficionados de educación donde trabajaba y la verdad es que minutos antes de salir al escenario estuve muy nerviosa, pero fue una experiencia enriquecedora y muy motivante.

Les cuento que, los festivales de artistas aficionados que realizábamos en el municipio Moa, Holguín, provincia del norte oriental de Cuba, es una de las actividades que más pueblo logró llevar a los escenarios en los que se realizaban estos festivales. En ellos, los “artistas” que participábamos éramos trabajadores de diferentes actividades que teníamos la posibilidad de satisfacer nuestras inquietudes artísticas en igualdad de condiciones.

Yo era la directora de la escuela en la que trabajaba y teníamos una brigada artística que incluía varias manifestaciones del arte como danza, teatro, pintura y música.

Sin embargo, en este festival, previo a la jornada inicial, nuestra solista estrella se enfermó y no teníamos quien la pudiera sustituir.
Como directora le pedí a los trabajadores concentrarnos en las otras manifestaciones en las que íbamos a concursar, que ya se buscaría una solución para el canto.

El día del festival, cuando le tocó cantar a las intérpretes, mi nombre apareció entre las cantantes y mis compañeros de trabajo no lo podían creer.

Debo aclarar que no estuve entre las tres mejores intérpretes del festival, pero, logré representar a mi escuela y, lo más importante, logré cumplir un sueño largamente deseado.

But in 2006 I had the chance to sing at a festival of amateur education artists where I worked and the truth is that minutes before going on stage I was very nervous, but it was an enriching and very motivating experience.

I tell you that the festivals of amateur artists that we held in the Moa municipality, Holguín, a province in the north east of Cuba, are one of the activities that most people managed to bring to the stages where these festivals were held. In them, the “artists” who participated were workers in different activities who had the possibility of satisfying our artistic concerns on equal terms.

I was the director of the school where I worked and we had an artistic brigade that included various art manifestations such as dance, theater, painting and music.

However, at this festival, prior to the opening day, our star soloist became ill and we had no one to replace her.
As director, I asked the workers to concentrate on the other demonstrations in which we were going to compete, that a solution for the singing would be found.
