The album "Paranoid" was released by Black Sabbath in 1970 in the UK, and it set off the career of the band. It was not their first album, but the singles off this record are their most famous works, and the band showcased Ozzy Osborne's recognizable vocals and antics. Ozzy was kicked out of the band a decade later, and his legacy of substance abuse is legendary.
Black Sabbath is a metal/prog band that emerged during the era when Rainbow, Alice Cooper and the Scorpions were defining heavy metal and it's variants. Europeans and Americans worked to embolden heavy metal as a genre, and it was incredibly commerically successful. Black Sabbath paved the way for metal and is still relevant and relateable even today. The band has an occult and powerful sound along with incredibly dark guitar solos and support.
Ozzy Osborne's career was launched with this album, and it made it onto the UK charts. The songs "War Pigs" and "Iron Man" were singles from this album that have been played for 5-decades now. The band Black Sabbath has sold over 70 million records, and it has been a mainstay in the genre for an amazing 5-decades and counting. Dio emerged from this band and pursued a more melodic form of metal that can be heard in "Rainbow in the Dark".
