ᴡʜᴇɴ ɪs ɪᴛ ᴇᴠᴇʀ ᴇɴᴏᴜɢʜ?

The journey of life is full of crisis and uncertainties, In the mist of our chaotic existence we grow gradually and eventually become wary. Different individuals driven by passion and determination to achieve what we consider to be our purpose in life, dreams and wishes. We delicate a significant amount of our lives to sort and find the purpose of our existence whatever it might be, then we spend remain time we have left on earth chasing and trying to achieve our found purpose or probably fixing the mistakes we have accumulated in the process. This makes me wonder if we are truly living or just surviving because if we as humans go around chasing these purpose and dreams, maybe eventually achieving it, does that mean we have lived? or is that the point of living?

It is so tragic how we ignore one of the most important questions we are meant to ask ourselves as humans* what is the point of life? what is the point of living? Who am I? *What if I tell you that your purpose in life is not the point of life, neither is it any kind of physical activities you engaged in. I have always been curious about why some people are living while others are just surviving. It has nothing to do with how much you have or your net worth in general. If that was the case then the poor are not meant to have the ability to smile.

I woke up this morning just like every other day, trying to figure out my activities for today which has probably been laid out since yesterday. Going through my schedules and all, filtering the goals have been able to successfully achieve for the past few days. this act of mine is quite encouraging due to how it has successfully increased the rate of my daily productivity and also reduce the rate at which I procrastinate. So every morning I try as much as possible to get this act going, to put things in order, to plan my day and that is how it goes everyday till God knows when.

Though I have been able to plan my day ahead but today something weird happened or should I say a weird thought crossed my mind. I take a look at the activities I have planned for today, those have planned for the days yet to come and those activities I have planned for in the past, they all have something in common. This daily activities are filled with series of long term and short term goals & objectives to achieve broken down into smaller parts to make it easier to achieve. That is all there is in all my activities planned.

Just goals, plans and that is just it, this got me wondering is that all there is to my life? is this all have been doing? is there more to my life than this specific things I have set out to achieve? if there is more, am I the only one not aware of it? when is it ever enough? this questions kept bothering me and on my mind, I'm unable to shake it off. I had to stay idle for hours just to find a way to sort out some answers that will satisfy my curiosity but no matter how much time I spent thinking about it I couldn't get the kind of answers I was expecting or probably a more direct and simple answer. Every other answers that pops up in my mind led to another series of answers and it just went on and on.

Being buried in my thoughts I decided to lighten up my mood by listening to some songs, one thing about me is that listening to songs is one thing apart from writing that assist me in processing my thoughts. I Listened to different songs till I stumbled upon a song that Aligned with my thoughts and birthed the this post. The first song happened to be a song I got from watching a popular movie known has The greatest showman, The song in question is known as:

NEVER ENOUGH - BY LOREN ALLRED

The song was acted in the movie The greatest showman by popular swedish actress Rebecca Ferguson but was originally sang and performed by "Loren Allred" for the movie in 2017. There are a lot of sides to the song the rhythm and so on but I'm more fixated on its lyrics. Believe me when I say it is more than just a song, it is medicinal and food for thought. It emphasis on the struggles of humans in trying to attain greatness and perfection but no matter how much we try there will always be something left to be achieved.

At some point every human has been overwhelmed by what needs to be achieved, it is the main reason why most people are busy surviving instead of living but for others who galavant and find contentment in the process are those that are privileged to be living. I'm not saying settling for less means you are living but that thing you are obsessed about achieving it, if eventually it is achieved will it make you feel better about yourself? will it define who you are or what you are meant to be?. As humans there will always be something to achieve, the moment you achieve that there is always another you desire it is what make us humans but the feeling you get from those activities you engage in matters a lot.

Does it make you feel fulfilled? greatness and success are all admirations of life but fulfillment is a personal conviction that puts your mind at ease, knowing you have fulfilled the sole reason of your existence. Instead of being too occupied and fixated on what to achieve why not try living because at the long run when our youthful days are long gone and we look back at the years spent on earth all we have left is the experience and feeling of a life well spent, in the absence of those two it create a hole in our mind with feelings of emptiness and regret of a life wasted.

Fulfillment is attained knowing you have done the sole purpose of your existence, achieved and fulfilled what you are most passionate about. Our youthful age is the time when we need to plan ourselves, set goals into making these achievements.

Goals and plans are not all there is to life but a medium into making you become the person you want to be. Without it, you will stay where you are, there won't be growth, there won't be changes in your life, you will live the life of someone who is a failure because you failed to plan.

Then when it becomes too late, your only goal is left for you to survive instead of living the life you wanted, the dreams you had that could have been a reality and the life you could have achieved.

Yes, a man will always seek more achievement after each success. That is a true definition of a man living his life because his mind is not limited and has become someone who knows he can become anything he wants to be.

When his last days come, I tell you, he will be more satisfied, more fulfilled than someone who didn't plan early days, who hasn't made any achievement or passion a reality.

Fulfillment comes when you know that you have lived the life you wanted for yourself, achieved those passions you desire and be grateful for them all.

You definitely have a distinctive perspective about the concept of fulfillment but I believe achievement and fulfilment might share some symbiotic elements but it differs for each individual. I strongly believe fulfilment is the ability for an individual to be content with what he or she has done with his or her life, it doesn't really have to be something majestic, as long as he or she feels his/her purpose on earth has been fulfilled.

But achievement on the other hand is a continuous notion of unlimited possibilities, there is no end to it, if a human ability to feel fulfilled solely depends on what he or she has achieved, when will he/she be able to determine when it is enough or satisfying?

I appreciate your thoughtful contribution, I'm probably thinking of carving out a H to H topic from this to create an avenue for extensive discussion.

You are not wrong. Most people are busy surviving instead of living. Especially when you are an employee, you won't have time to even think of what else you want because your hands are already full.

Human wants are unlimited, and fulfillment is in stages, when we are young we have so much energy to pursue many goals and when we are older we look back and reminisce on our achievements and how we have lived, that's when we can conclude that we are fulfilled.

Hmmm, but then if we wait till old age before determining whether we lived a fulfilled life or not, it would have been too late to correct some things we could have when we are still young.

I appreciate your thoughtful contribution, thanks for stopping by 🤗
