WAITING ON THE WORLD BY JOHN MAYER (cover)
Hello, fellow hivers. It is a pleasure to be here again to contribute some extra music to the world. I do hope everyone that sees this is having and has a good day.
Wear a smile as much as you can😊.
Now to the business of the day. The song I play in this video is one of my favorites from John Mayer, most just because of the really meaningful lyrics.
There's a quote by an African professor that says “those that have the power don't have ideas, and those that have ideas don't have the power to execute them.” I really think this is largely true, and to even take it a step further, I believe a percentage of those with power do have the right ideas but are too consumed by selfishness and greed to even consider executing those ideas.
As a result, those of us without power are condemned to simply wait and hope that change comes around soon enough.
While we wait though, it would be really nice to, as Michael Jackson puts it, start with the man in the mirror. If you wanna make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and then make a change. We then hope that the compounding ripple effect evokes a change, if not in our time, then for generations to come.
Here are the lyrics of the song
Me and all my friends
We're all misunderstood
They say we stand for nothing and
There's no way we ever could
Now we see everything that's going wrong
With the world and those who lead it
We just feel like we don't have the means
To rise above and beat it
So we keep waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
It's hard to beat the system
When we're standing at a distance
So we keep waiting on (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
Now if we had the power
To bring our neighbors home from war
They woulda never missed a Christmas
No more ribbons on their door
And when you trust your television
What you get is what you got
'Cause when they own the information, oh
They can bend it all they want
That's why we're waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
It's not that we don't care
We just know that the fight ain't fair
So we keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
And we're still waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
One day our generation
Is gonna rule the population
So we keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
Now I keep on waiting (waiting)
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting (waiting)
We're waiting on the world to change
Waiting on the world to change
Waiting on the world to change
Waiting on the world to change

Here is a link to a live performance of the song, just coz I often prefer live performances to studio recordings.
Damn, that sounds good, you look so relaxed with the guitar, cool!
