Entre las pláticas que tuve con los muchachos de la agrupación, hace algún tiempo, un tema muy bonito e importante salió a relucir. En 1 Corintios 14:15 dice: ¿Qué, pues? Oraré con el espíritu, pero oraré también con el entendimiento; cantaré con el espíritu, pero cantaré también con el entendimiento.

Eso siempre me llevaba a reflexionar. Hay canciones que no descarto ni desapruebo, pero sé en mi alma que no las entonaría, al menos no con sinceridad, al menos no con mi entendimiento.

La canción “Que me falte todo menos tu presencia”. ¿Realmente estamos preparados para eso? Para que falte la salud, el pan, el calzado y los seres queridos, ¿estamos realmente preparados para eso? Recuerdo los momentos duros que Venezuela afrontó hace poco, ahora mismo estamos afrontando la situación un poco mejor, pero en ese momento que nos faltaron muchas, muchas cosas, incluso la fe y los valores comenzaron a faltar en algunos de nosotros. Lo que me lleva a la siguiente canción:

“Prefiero a Cristo: no voy tras fortuna ni prosperidad, no anhelo tesoros ni la bendición…”. Esta canción tiene un mensaje muy profundo y hermoso, y es que debemos preferir a Cristo antes que cualquier otra cosa; sin embargo, cantar la canción nos compromete realmente, y nos puede llevar a ser probados. ¿Cuánta sinceridad habría si cantamos hoy “no voy tras fortuna ni prosperidad”, cuando la realidad es que combatimos hora tras hora para no afanarnos, pero sí tener lo que necesitamos?

Dejaré estos pensamientos acá porque realmente no sabía qué escribir en el post jajaja de hecho, parte de cantar con entendimiento es investigar un poco las canciones que entonamos. Podemos, por ejemplo, encontrar el contexto de la canción “Amor Sin Condición” entre los versículos más conocidos por creyentes y no creyentes, Juan 3:16: Porque de tal manera amó Dios al mundo, que ha dado a su Hijo unigénito, para que todo aquel que en él cree, no se pierda, mas tenga vida eterna. Esta canción celebra la ofrenda entregada para reconciliar a la creación con el creador; un cantico de gratitud que exalta al que fue hallado entre todos los tiempos y generaciones como único digno.

Sea la paz para los que procuran el bien, las bendiciones lluevan para los humildes y que no falte el pan en la mesa de los justos. La misericordia de Dios se ha renovado hoy, ¡qué bueno es Dios! Esperemos que sean también renovadas mañana.

“I prefer Christ: I do not pursue fortune or prosperity, I do not long for treasure or blessing…” This song has a very deep and beautiful message, and that is that we must prefer Christ before anything else; However, singing the song really engages us, and can lead us to be tested. How much sincerity would there be if we sang today “I am not going after fortune or prosperity”, when the reality is that we fight hour after hour to not worry, but to have what we need?

I will leave these thoughts here because I really didn't know what to write in the post hahaha, in fact, part of singing with understanding is doing a little research into the songs we sing. We can, for example, find the context of the song “Love Without Condition” among the verses best known by believers and non-believers, John 3:16: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, to that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
