Hello community, although our Catholic religion has the conclusion of Christmas on January 6 (Epiphany Day of the Lord or Three Kings Day), traditionally, in many regions of Venezuela the conclusion of Christmas is on February 2: Candlemas day. Liturgically it is also the Day of the Presentation of the Lord. It is in this traditional context of popular religiosity in which we are still at Christmas that I played the maracas to accompany a traditional Christmas song: "The Chapel is Open"

We sing this Christmas Song ("aguinaldo") as an entrance song in several of the Christmas Masses with which we celebrate the Christmas Novena.

We spent nine days before Christmas arriving at the church when it was still dark, at 6 in the morning, for the "Rooster Masses." So it was very appropriate to sing "the chapel is open night and day..."

After the Mass it was time for snack, sharing cookies accompanied by hot tea or coffee while we played another Xmas songs, sang and danced. And then it was returning home in groups, singing in the streets while those of us who lived in the same area during that period were in a group.

Such a beautiful Christmas that brings us a lot of joy and also nostalgia for all the family and friends who are forced to to live Christmas in distant lands.

On February 2, Christmas does end and that day in many places the "Paradura del Niño" (Little Jesus Boy Standing) is celebrated. A very beautiful tradition rich in signs that I will describe in more detail on another occasion.
