The world is ever-changing, and so is the music we hear around us. What do you think about the songs and types of music that are made today? It could be in your country.

A few days ago, a friend of mine was dancing and singing to a particular reigning song we all currently know, sing, and listen to, can't remember the name of the song now and it struck me that although I vibe to the rhythms of these songs when played one thing I never do is download them on my phone to listen to, no matter how hyped or talked about it is, I never consciously and unconsciously get to pay attention to the lyrics of our today's music.

Do I love music, yes of course, do I have a vibe to the rhythms, of course, I do that but I never know their lyrics, the artist, or know how to sing it to. I can only chip in a little perhaps if I have been around the place the song is being played several times, my subconscious automatically picks some lines that could enable me to chip in when it gets to that particular time but apart from that, I never know any current song from the beginning to the end and never care to either get it from someone or download it, not a fan of these songs.

It does not mean I have never one time been a fan of our trending music but nowadays, all the artists get to do is make a beautiful noise and sing at most a line or two as music and that's the end of the music but that wasn't how it was before now.

Funny enough, the children of the 20s think these songs are the bomb πŸ’£ but what they failed to understand was that the era when songs were songs and beautiful and meaningful lyrics and sound were being made was back in the old.

There were days I used to dance to songs, there were days we would sit down to write a particular lyrics of a song because of our inspiring it is, and there were days were days we danced to songs not just because of the grumbling, the noise making beats but because of the message being passed.

It still does not mean that meaningful songs aren't sung today, but those artists who sing those meaningful songs are rare and not in the spotlight, I guess that's why many artists give to the masses what they want which is noise, just to get in the spotlight and for their music to sell.

Songs weren't sung just for selling back then, even though it was for the fame, but many sang out of their life stories but today, it's not the same.

I know the world is revolving one would say, but the world is meant to revolve for the good so as music, not for the worst, Some call themselves artist as long as their music is selling but then, what's the message of the song?

I am not against the songs, because of course not everyone will love the same thing, but then, I think most of the artist should either be kicked out of the industry or step up their games.

You just come out, you sing two lines of songs, put in a best that fits the lyrics, and Bam! You are an artist because that noise begins to sell.

Many who have listened to the great legendary artist back in the day can attest that music back then can not be compared to music now because it's been watered down, Boys just want to make money, that's what they are all out to do but I just wish we can do better but can we do better with the current generation we are having today?

I stan and still stand with the music before over the music we are listening to now, the music made today is all for the money.

This is my answer to the first question of the HIVENAIJA WEEKLY PROMPT #11: OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT & PROMPT WINNERS!.

This is the pure truth that most people fail to understand.

Thanks for sharing

Yeah, and I don't blame them, they want what they can make money out of for their families and themselves.

Thanks for the comment.

My love, all your post Ehn…. You just made it clearer with this. We have really good and undervalued artist in Nigeria but we hardly hear of them unless we take time to really look. Because unfortunately, Nigerians are just after what would please their flesh. And it’s sad.

The other artists who sing lyrics mixed with reality, also put out a lot of bumbum contents and so they are recognized. So sad.

Reminds me of one of my teachers who said "they just repeat the same thing and gives beat and boom song is made" infact we made a song right there in class with just these words"I am a boy isn't it"πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚..I think these days people don't focus on lyrics anymore just focus on beats and vibes

Lol, True, very true, Your teacher is correct about it. Maybe you guys should have taken the song to the studio for the necessary intro, una for sell oo. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

As long as the beats and vibes are giving, it is none of their business what the lyrics talk about. Sad!

It's sad to see most people doing music because they want fame and money.
A friend of mine is now an artist suddenly and the only thing he talks about in his lyrics are sex, female body parts, and the like and people are vibing to it because that's what they want to hear.

Lol, I guess he gives what society wants to hear but unfortunately, is this space going to be comfortable for the next generation with the way things are going?

Music those days was enjoyable. The music for now , hmm. Some are good only if you listen and don't watch how provocatively the ladies are dancing. Some lyrics too extol immorality encourage drug abuse. So you are right in your opinion

Yeah, you are not wrong in your opinion too, but they were better back then than now.
