Art and the Subconscious

Hey dear Hive community, first of all I would like to welcome you all to my contribution and hope you are all well! In my contribution today, I would like to address an interesting topic from a different perspective and hope you are able to expand your knowledge.

Here are some works of art that I recently photographed that not only convince through the abstract manifestation but also subliminally stimulate the brain and I really like the artist's work very much. The topic of art and the subconscious go hand in hand and over 95% of our actions are controlled by the subconscious and the effect that works of art trigger in the mind of the viewer play an important role and often works full of subliminal stimuli. It can be said that without our subconscious we would not be able to visualize the works and when looking at it, it can stimulate the psyche and trigger all kinds of emotions and control even the most complex areas of the brain or strongly influence perception and while you focus on the works of art, complex processes take place in the subconscious that process the information. Different areas of memory can be changed quite subliminally and when we look at works of art and feel joy, you can perceive feelings of happiness which are generated by the hormone dopamine and the brain also remembers what we liked and links this automatically and subliminally with the emotions we perceived when looking. Depending on the art form, there are of course different influencing factors that change the subconscious and in music it is, for example, the frequencies used and while classical music is rather calming the body down, more aggressive music such as heavy metal is more stress-generating also the experienced experiences are also linked to memories and the subconscious stores all of the informations. Specifically, the used sounds have a different effect on the psyche and if we like a song, there is a dopamine output in the brain and feelings of happiness are generated, which at the same time increases the chance that we will hear the song again.

Other feelings can also be specifically controlled via the music and a good example here is sad music which can even cause us to cry and also here it is interesting to know that the emotions are strongly bound to the subconscious and at the same time the limbic system and the prefrontal cortex are active which process the emotions and informations. In painting, an important influencing factor are of course the used colors, which can create their own moods and while red has a rather calming effect on the body, violet can awaken the spiritual side and the used stylistic devices are also an important component when it comes to the stimulation of the subconscious. Each color has its very own effect on the psyche which in turn also has an influence on the physical body and the interaction of the different colors is also of enormous importance in art and you often see this in abstract works that influence the viewer through all the different shapes, lines and colors. Some art currents such as surealism have specifically focused on the subconscious, which has set itself the goal of specifically connecting the consciousness and the subconscious to change the perception of the viewer through the different shapes and colors. It can be said that every form of art is individually linked to the subconscious and one must not forget that art for the creator is an important way on a psychological level to express the subconscious. Everyone processes art quite subliminally via their subconscious and even if you do not always understand the meaning when looking at works, it is interesting to know what is happening in parallel when looking at it in our brain and as already mentioned above, art and the subconscious always goes hand in hand and lets it merge.

I can only agree with that, perfect to go into more detail about the effect on the subconscious.
