Otro martes y otro TTT. Una iniciativa que a mi parecer, depende de como la veamos, es sumamente interesante. Más allá de hablar de música me he tomado estos post para hablar de mí y de lo que ha influido la música en mí. Desde aquellos momentos con mi madre o mi tío. Ambos me ensañaron diferentes géneros que sin duda han sido una fuente de inspiración para mí y este arte que tanto aprecio. Vamos a seguir recordando artistas que conocí gracias a mi madre y sus tardes musicales.

Another Tuesday and another TTT. An initiative that, in my opinion—depending on how you look at it—is extremely interesting. Beyond just talking about music, I’ve used these posts to talk about myself and how music has influenced me. From those moments with my mother or my uncle. Both of them introduced me to different genres that have undoubtedly been a source of inspiration for me and for this art form that I cherish so much. Let’s continue remembering the artists I discovered thanks to my mother and her musical afternoons.

Recuerdo que cuando era niño siempre solía jugar con que era un cantante frente a millones de personas y bueno, creo que es un juego que cualquier niño haría o por lo menos en mi generación que no contábamos con Tablet o internet. Recuerdo claramente que en un cumpleaños para mi abuela decidí hacer una coreografía de la película de Michael Jackson que pertenecía a una de sus películas donde era perseguido por mucha gente. Recuerdan, cuando se convirtió en conejo. En fin, pasé semanas ensañando la misma y por supuesto imitando sus pasos. No sé qué tal salió pero sé que mi abuela se reía muchísimo ja ja ja…

I remember that when I was a kid, I used to pretend I was a singer performing in front of millions of people. Well, I think it’s a game any kid would play—or at least kids in my generation, since we didn’t have tablets or the internet. I clearly remember that for my grandmother’s birthday, I decided to put together a dance routine from one of Michael Jackson’s movies where he was being chased by a lot of people. You know, the one where he turns into a rabbit. Anyway, I spent weeks practicing it and, of course, imitating his moves. I don’t know how it turned out, but I know my grandmother laughed a lot, ha ha ha…

Otras veces colocaba el disco de Franco de Vita y con cualquier cosa que pareciera un micrófono me divertía en otro tipo de escenario. Y sí, por supuesto que no entendí mucho lo que el cantante expresaba pero su ritmo y ese toque de voz rasgada me llamaba mucho la atención y de hecho había una canción en particular que me gustaba que bueno, se llama Sexo. De seguro no la recuerdan así que vamos a recordarla en lo que parece una presentación en uno de los programas más importante de la Tv venezolana en los 90 Sábado Sensacional.

Other times, I’d put on a Franco de Vita album and, using anything that looked like a microphone, I’d have fun performing on a different kind of stage. And yes, of course I didn’t understand much of what the singer was saying, but his rhythm and that raspy touch to his voice really caught my attention. In fact, there was one song in particular that I liked—it’s called “Sexo.” I’m sure you don’t remember it, so let’s revisit it in what looks like a performance on one of the most important shows on Venezuelan TV in the ’90s, ¨Sábado Sensacional¨.
