Hace unos días nuevamente ese sentimiento de adolecente me hizo sentir nostálgico y como no sentirse así cuando empezamos a recordar tan preciados momentos. Y no solo me refiero a la música sino a todo lo que nos rodeaba en esos momentos. Qué raro es recordar que el 2000 lo llamaron la era del ¨inicio moderno¨ en cierta parte tenía mucha razón, la tecnología fue mejorando muchísimo hasta llegar a lo que hoy conocemos, una inmensa evolución sobre todo con lo que ahora estamos viviendo, una gran era de la tecnología. Aunque intento seguir el ritmo a todas estas nuevas cosas, digamos que estoy en la carrera pero no en los primeros puestos ja ja ja…

A few days ago, that teenage feeling made me feel nostalgic again and how could you not feel that way when you start reminiscing about such cherished moments? And I’m not just talking about the music, but everything that surrounded us back then. It’s strange to remember that the year 2000 was called the “modern era.” In a way, that was very true technology improved tremendously until it reached what we know today, a massive evolution, especially given what we’re experiencing now: a great era of technology. Although I try to keep up with all these new things, let’s just say I’m in the race but not in the lead, ha ha ha…

Todo empezó cuando fui por Luna al colegio y desde que se montó en el carro solo cantaba una canción de las codiciadas Guerreras Pop. Llegó he hizo exactamente lo que yo hubiera hecho al llegar a casa. Recuerdan esa sensación de soltar el bolso en el mueble, ignorar la tarea por un rato y correr a encender el televisor justo a tiempo para alcanzar el conteo de los diez más pedidos. No importaba el calor de la tarde pues en ese momento el mundo se reducía a lo que MTV decidía que era cool y sí, los 2000 no fueron solo una década, fueron un estado mental marcado por los pantalones anchos, el gel en el cabello y por supuesto los videos musicales que definieron nuestra identidad. Como olvidar esas increíbles producciones no solo musicalmente pues los trabajos que realizaban para su presentación visual, o sea, sus videos clip era de gran calidad, de un gran equipo de trabajo y presupuestos bastantes elevados lo que hoy la misma tecnología ha ayudado a reducir pero extraviando el alma humana.

It all started when I picked up Luna from school, and from the moment she got in the car, she sang nothing but a song by the beloved Guerreras Pop. She got home and did exactly what I would have done when I got home. Remember that feeling of tossing your bag on the couch, ignoring your homework for a while, and running to turn on the TV just in time to catch the Top 10 chart? The afternoon heat didn’t matter because, at that moment, the world boiled down to whatever MTV decided was cool. And yes, the 2000s weren’t just a decade they were a state of mind defined by baggy pants, hair gel, and, of course, the music videos that shaped our identity. How could we forget those incredible productions not just musically, but also in terms of the visual presentation? I mean, their music videos were of such high quality, produced by a great team with substantial budgets something that today’s technology has helped reduce, but at the cost of losing the human soul.

Hoy en día tenemos todo a un clic en el teléfono, pero nada supera la expectativa de esperar a que tu video favorito subiera de puesto en el ranking. Era nuestra forma de conectar con el mundo, de descubrir qué estaba pasando fuera de nuestras fronteras mientras el ventilador refrescaba la habitación ja ja ja… Quiero compartir con ustedes algunas de esos videos que les aseguro, me disfrutaba no solo la música si no la vibra que transmitía el trabajo visual así que bueno, llegué a casa del trabajo, lancé las botas en algún lugar de la casa y la franela por otro lado todo para llegar con esa misma vibra de adolecente y si mi esposa me reclamaba algo, bueno, haría como cualquier adolecente, no escuchar lo que dice ja ja ja si no solo la música de fondo. Espero que esta selección les traiga buenos recuerdos.

These days, we have everything at our fingertips on our phones, but nothing beats the anticipation of waiting for your favorite video to climb the charts. It was our way of connecting with the world, of discovering what was happening beyond our borders while the fan cooled the room, ha ha ha… I want to share with you some of those videos that, I assure you, I enjoyed not only for the music but also for the vibe conveyed by the visuals. So, I’d come home from work, toss my boots somewhere in the house and my T-shirt somewhere else, all to get into that same teenage vibe. And if my wife complained about something, well, I’d do what any teenager would do ignore what she says, ha ha ha and just listen to the music in the background.
