RE: That one time I was really into a "different kind of music"

This was for you, your Guilty Pleasure, as people tend to name stuff they like, but don't want others to know.
First of all: Great you didn't let your environment push you into bin-ing music you like!
The movie, did see it back then. The music, well some of their tracks got into the top pop lists and appeared on TV in music programs, and were aired on the radio, frequently. I recorded them onto tape. Must have them lying around somewhere still.
Did you listen to other electronic/pop-ish music back in the days? Such as Depeche Mode? Love them very much.
Nice share!

I was shown a lot of electronic music by one of my best friends in High School who was not a redneck. He showed me some that I liked such as Depeche Mode who I still enjoy to this day, and other stuff that I had a fleeting interest in such as Erasure and Nitzer Ebb. Most of that stuff was too far out of my wheelhouse for me to really enjoy it so much as I pretended to when I was around him but a song here and there I genuinely did enjoy.

All those you mentioned were what I listened to back in the days.
Especially Depeche Mode. A band that inspired quite a few modern electronic producers and DJs.

Yeah DM were pretty great. I will say that some of their songs, by today's standards anyway, sound kind of "rapey" . It's funny to listen to "A question of time" and "little 15" with today's ideals in mind.
