Review Of Vibes Week 33— @tammysings' Ijoba Orun!
"Ijoba Orun" will always be a song that stirs me to the deepest part of my soul and just today, I listened to a beautiful cover of it, and I must say, it was breathtakingly powerful. The voice, the emotion, the passion, the sincerity......everything about it reminded me of the reason this song remains timeless.
Originally done in Yoruba Language, the English Translation of the first verse says;
"Ijoba orun lere onigbagbo oh
Ijoba orun lere onigbagbo oh
Maje nkuna Baba mumu dele oh
Owo ti mo ni kole mumi dele oh
Moto ti mori wa kole gbemi dele oh
Ore to moni won le mumi dele oh
Gbogbo iwe ti morika won le gbemi dele oh
Maje nkuna Baba mumu dele oh
Mumi dele oh."
English translation;
"The kingdom of heaven is the reward of the believer
oh, don't let me fail father pls bring me home oh, the money I have cannot bring me home
The car that I have cannot bring me home
The friends I have cannot bring me home
all the books I have read cannot bring me home
Don't let me fail father please bring me home."
The song captures that moment when life becomes overwhelming, and the soul just wants to rest in God's presence, that is, in eternity where there's no more struggle.
Some songs don’t just get sung — they’re felt, and this one? It was deeply felt.
And to think that this was her first outing on Vibes.... Hmmm congratulations!
