Nine Inch Nails, often abbreviated as NIN, is an American industrial rock project founded in 1988 by Trent Reznor. Known for its abrasive soundscapes and dark, introspective lyrics, the project has been a cornerstone of alternative music for decades. While Reznor remained the sole official member for much of its history, he eventually made long-time collaborator Atticus Ross a permanent member in 2016. The band has earned critical acclaim and multiple Grammy Awards for influential albums like The Downward Spiral and The Fragile, and they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2020.
