Washington DC: the capital of the amazing museums (II)

Hello people and pinmapplers!

An intense trip, through a surprising city, seems different but we discovered that there is a lot to see... and we have already seen a lot in the previous post here, but I did not mention the museums because it was too much. So this time a new post about the amazing museums of the capital of the US, because Washington DC is the city of museums without a doubt, there are a lot and all very interesting. Definitively we would need several days to see many of them, not even all of them, and most of them are free. A fascinating tour of art, history, nature, culture and more!

• The Smithsonian Institution

Clearly we start with the most famous, a name that we will surely have heard, it is not just a museum, a building, but it is several buildings and an institution. But we head to the main one, where a curious eclectic collection of different elements awaits us that clearly show us American culture from images, models of the White House, gala dresses of the first ladies, or a strange sculpture that looks like a pile of garbage. (it seems like an allegory to the fiercest consumerism and the management of so much waste, right?) and there are even some stuffed animals, icons of its history, its way of life, its presidents, and much more...

• Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History

Another very interesting museum is the animal history museum, more stuffed animals but much more, colorful aquariums, impressive giant skeletons, rare creatures and fascinating animals, there is so much to see...

• National Gallery of Art

I love art, and I was amazed to see that many very famous and important works are here... others from important collections of artists such as Monet, Van Gogh, sculptures by Rodin, even more typical medieval altarpieces from Spain or Italy. The she-wolf of Rome (Romulus and Remus), and most surprising, a beautiful garden with flowers, a fountain and more beautiful sculptures.
And even more, there is something that catches your attention, a modern illuminated tunnel that connects two parts of the museum, amazing!

• The National Air and Space Museum of the Smithsonian Institution

If you want to have fun, or if you go with children, don't miss the space one, with many things to see about space, NASA; rockets, astronaut suits, what they ate or not... but also many airplanes, everywhere, you have to look up, at the ceiling!

• The National Archives Museum

And if you want to see the most important symbols of the country, you can too. Because in the National Archives Museum, among other interesting things, we will see the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States, although with the glass and the dark light they do not appear well in the photo, but they are there, those famous documents with all their signatures, and that famous phrase: "We The People..."

• Hirshhorn Museum & Sculpture Garden

It's a lot, and we ran out of time, others that we'll see if we return... like the Hirshhorn museum which we didn't enter but outside it had a garden of modern sculptures that we could also see as we passed by as well as its structure and large fountain. There are places that are also interesting from the outside...

• More? National Museum of Asian art, African art, the American Indian

No, no more. These are the names of some other museums that we could also visit, surely also interesting, full of surprising things and of course other amazing museums. But we finish here!
