The 2024 New Year's concert (by the Wiener Philharmoniker)

It is said that the year begins after giving applause to the sound of the Radetzsky March, that lively melody at the end of the New Year's concert that is held every January 1st at the Musikverein in Vienna, Austria.

So yesterday January 1st 2024 at 11:15AM as another familiar tradition we start a new year with #music, with a wonderful and unique concert, perhaps it is the best way to start with good vibes, those of all the instruments of the prestigious Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the Wiener Philharmoniker.

We dream of being able to be there one year, sitting where so many lucky people are sitting who enjoy live all the classical melodies, all the Austrian waltzes, marches, polskas and more from the program of the most famous musicians in history: all of the Strauss family (Johann, Joseph, Edward...) and many others, under the direction of a veteran Christian Thielemann, who seemed quite lively and happy, enjoying himself at all times and wishing everyone a happy new year as usual.

On the first day of the year, after a sweet breakfast, we started in front of the television screen with the best music, classical music that moves our hearts. And looking at each of the musicians and their instruments, from all the violinists, the concertmaster (sitting to the left of the conductor, I learned this many years ago in music class at the institute), those of the trombone, the trumpets and flutes, the drums or others that attract attention such as the tambourine, the triangle or the harp. How elegant and delicate it must be to play the harp!

We also enjoyed the majesty of the place, the golden palace decorated with thousands of flowers, this year predominantly in pink and red tones, I always look at those flower compositions while my foot moves to the tone of the musical compositions.

And for beautiful things, there are two breaks, well two ballet dances that are broadcast in the middle, this year inspired by the famous Empress Sissi, and the truth is that I loved one of the dresses. Beautiful costumes and outdoor setting, in those beautiful Austrian palaces.

In addition to palaces this year during the break, when they broadcast a kind of documentary, they have based themselves on the Monastery of Sant Florian, in Bad Ischl, which will be the European Capital of Culture 2024, and also paying tribute to an important musician because this year it was the bicentenary of Anton Bruckner. And this one has put an end to the singing children of Vienna.

Then they returned to the hall and to the concert, to listen to what we were all waiting for, the most famous exciting waltz of all, the Blue Danube by Johann Strauss and of course, the Radetzsky March to be able to applaud when it had to be done, animated by the applause, smiling and waiting with music for the best of this 2024, which now has begun with the concert.

Ah, this concert is broadcast in 100 countries and in the broadcast on Spanish television, the commentators, in addition to many curious and interesting facts, have commented that the director for next year will be a great veteran who repeats once again, the charismatic Riccardo Mutti.
