Resurrecting my CD collection
OK Hiver I have accumulated a lot of CDs over the years. This is a small sample. Around a fifth.
but over the last few years since I sold my Denon mini system they have been gathering dust as I’ve not really had anything to play them on. But I’ve got sick of streaming services thinking they know what to listen too. So after a bit of googling I treated myself to a Fiio DM13 it’s a modern portable CD player with built in bluetooth, bit more of that later, and DACs, but I’m using it as main CD player.
Small and neat it looks perfect for my current set up with a bluetooth Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin or it should be but for some reason the Fiio Bluetooth won’t content to the Zeppelin but will connect to my iPad and Sony headphones my iPad also connects to the Zeppelin so I’m confused. My small gripe with the Bower & Wilkins Zeppelin is that there no hard wire Aux input to the new speaker it still sounds amazing but it’s an omission I find annoying.
It wasn’t the end of the world as in the end I connected the Zeppelin and Fiio with a Bluetooth dongle in the Aux output of the Fiio so all is not lost. Bit of a faff but still sounds great unless your charging both the dongle and the CD player at the same time then there’s a mains hum. Not a huge issue as I usually charge the dongle over night and will last all day playing CDs if I want to.
All together the system sits nicely on an IKEA bookshelf so I think it’s a a neat setup. What do you think Hivers? I think it’s time to invest in a few more CDs.
